Disastrous news for Renault. Best wishes to Robert, hope he recuperates well and quick.

Robert Kubica has been taken to hospital by helicopter following a crash during a rally event in Italy on Sunday morning.

He was driving a Skoda Fabia in the Super2000 category of the Rally Ronde di Andora when his car overturned.

According to the Savona News, Kubica was conscious after the accident but was rushed to hospital with what they described as "several fractures".

Some reports in Kubica's native Poland suggest he has fractured his wrist in a couple of places.

An official press conference has been called for later this morning.

Considering it's just broken bones to mend...what (who) are Renaults choices for the first couple of races?

Apparently its fractures, some say wrist and some say legs. In either case, the good news is they will heal, although he wouldn't be able to start the season. I'd presume that would mean Senna would get to drive a competitive car.

Just hope he recovers really fast. He's a great driver and F1 will miss him if he has even a short absence.

My guess would be Senna

He'll probably be out for a few races then, considering its only a month to go until the first race.

Lucky Renault have alot of Test drivers, supect we might see Senna in a "Lotus"

This is why Mclaren stop their drivers doing things like the ROC

"Apparently French radio is reporting it as multiple fractures to his left leg, left arm and fractured femur. The safety rail was in his car after the crash."

"ANSA said the 26-year-old was heading to the start of the Ronde di Andora rally near Genoa in a Skoda Fabia when the car went off the road and hit a wall."

"There's supposed to be a press conference from the hospital in about 2 hours."

Not sure how good this source is but:

From Italian news :

"Kubica crashed into the wall of a church. His conditions where terrible, almost life-threatening. Firemen extracted him conscious from the car and he was taken to hospital by helicopter. No mortal wounds but medical officers confirmed he was in red code. It seems he received a hard leg trauma (probably broken thighbone) and they were even thinking of amputating it."

Pretty shocking, i really hope it isn't this serious

"The tv news in Italy said that he has probably lost the use of a hand that was totally destroyed in the crash."
