"I think we have a tyre that suits me more than the previous tyre we were on, but we'll have to wait and see - I can't be sure yet, but I think that might be the case."

Haven't we heard a similar line before from a certain Williams driver? :hehe:

Jenson trying to boost his confidence early which is good. It's going to be harder this year to keep up with his teammate. All the best Jenson! :wavey:

It all boils down to whether you can do a race with one pit stop or two. If you need two, then Jenson will not have as much of an advantage, if however he can manage to run a race with just one stop, then he's right, they'll suit him indeed. I'm glad he's optimistic about the fact. In the same interview Lewis said the McLaren is being less harsh on rubber than other cars seem to be.

Picking a fantasy team this year is going to be so much fun.

blah blah jense, maybe they do, but we all said Hamilton would have trouble in 2010 with tyres( i didnt tbf), i remember loads of posts on it, and after like two races not a mention, the tires will be fine for both, as they always have been.
If anything he shouldnt be saying this, more pressure to equal Hamilton. But if he feels they really suit him, good luck to the man, id love to see him take on Hamilton with a counteractive smooth style, id love it.

Apparently they don't suit Michael Schumacher so much:hehe:

"maybe it's down to the fact that the German and his team have been given special dispensation by the FIA... after all, unless he knows something we don't, how else does one account for yesterday's faux pas?"

What happened yesterday?

In the photograph you can see Michael wearing his helmet that still has the Bridgestone logo on it.

It's an helmet... is there a problem? Surely Michael wasn't testing with Bridgestone tyres, that would make no sense?

I think its VERY wrong to have a Bridgestone logo on the helmet when the cars are using Pirelli's....don't you think!?

No, in other motorsports like the V8 Supercars who use Dunlop, Bridgestone sponsor HRT(Holden Racing Team) who supply tyres on all new Holdens.

But in Schumi's case I would say they just havent updated the helmet yet, afterall there are many helmets a driver uses with different visor settings so perhaps he just used a different visor on the run the photo was taken.

Last years car, i hope they have got the tires right on the 26 there was musing of the suspension being less aigressive which should suit the tires.

suspect we might see a Mclaren thats average in qualifying but good on race pace.

That's what we had last year as well. The McLaren was actually decent in qualifying (beating Ferrari consistently) but there was no way in hell they were beating Redbull in qualifying.

Kind of like last year?

I just don't know where it will all end up this year, there could be a dark horse or the McLaren or Ferrari designs can really push them over the top, OR... the Red Bulls continue to dominate qualifying and it's just a matter of attrition and stratergy and driver focus at the end. Just like last year.

It's all about aerodynamics and the loss of the DDD would have done some leveling of the playing field as every manufacturer has to go back to a deep redesign of the rear as we've seen.

The fact that it's still so much about aero has to give the Red Bulls the edge though. I still thing the Ferrari or McLaren can out manufacture them any day, but Newey's salary is very much the best money Red Bull spends.

Its still about aero, but if the tires degrade as much as some drivers have said, then perhaps its going to also be about squeezing (avoiding) the extra pit stop on a set of tires........ in such case, then Button could have something in his favor. If its like last yr, that the difference was a matter of a couple of extra laps, and not enough to avoid the extra pitstop.... then it could matter little.

But for certain, Mclaren has probably incorporated some features in the MP to improve Button's performance. And the whole package in Q for that matter.
