Which in all probability will include lewis in a McLaren :D . And I doubt Alonso's musings will have troubled his mind one little bit. Made him grin I imagine at this attempt at mind games.

There's a double purpose:
1. Upbeat Schumacher's image, which is the rival he's beaten, thus giving more credit to his championships
2. Downplay the importance of the new dominant, real rivals. Red Bull... and specially Vettel.

Lewis? huh?
He's not even ran the new car... and anyway, no need to play mind games on him, he's got his own mind to play them on him :)

who really cares who Alonso THINKS are HIS rivals. Whats it really matter? im sure none of the other drivers really give a s*** what some eye brow says. Maybe the drivers he doesnt think are rivals can waive their fists at him like a moron? :P

hehe the media cares; and keeps asking and printing the news, doesnt it?
Even if the drivers are acting oblivious... the media is sure to keep digging the holes to create some tension from where there's none. Most drivers don't care at all.

Rosberg is fascinated with Alonso's facial hair. So he cares.

I seem to remeber loads of people bringing up the " i am going to win the championship" post silverstone comment from Alonso, funny, havent heard anyone mention it since abu dhabi....................LOL, maybe next year.

Are you telling me you'll start tearing up if Lewis smashes into a wall or his engine breaks down while he's leading a race?

Please get of the so called high horse...its a camel.

 nothing like ferrari fans to immediately call out others on bad sportsmanship when it doesnt work for them.

Id like to know what the jeering fans in Monza were in 2009 an 2010 when Lewis crashed, lemme guess? passionate?

IMO any fan (Tifosi included) who cheers or obtains joy from a competitors misfortune is a bad sport.

Speaking for myself, I get more joy when we win if all our competitors finish without misfortune. Because I know we beat them, and it wasn't a "luck assisted" win.

Honestly Spanky, I think we all feel the same way. I'd much prefer Lewis barging past Alonso and showing him who's boss while taking the win, rather than Alonso simply breaking down in front of him. Like you said yourself 'more joy' instead of just 'joy'.

What I can't stand is hypocrites...like 1 I encountered in this thread earlier.

What do you mean??
The fact that he was able to say that, then back it up with the form he showed since then.... epic! That was an epic run. He pretty much had it won. Had it not been for the way the stars were aligned...

The normal thing was to laugh or facepalm when Alonso stated categorically he would win the championship after Silverstone; so up til Abu dhabi it was difficult to keep the awestruck jaw in place.... anyway... 2010 its over.

:crying: It's such a beautiful sight....

What i mean is that you and Ham were talking about media attention on Alonso, and one of the best ones was that quote, that was force fed to me by eddie jordan, martin brundle, david coulthard, jake humphrey, ever since silverstone, and in all due respect if he had won. that quote would have been historical, and now he hasnt won, i feel he should take some stick for it, given that it didnt happen, and he got all that attention from a quote that never came to fruition.

gotta disagree, my one problem in this case is that tex said was in essence hypocritical given that hes a Ferrari fan and i dare say ive never seen him comment as such when its a fellow fan saying what Hammer said. The fact that fans of all teams/drivers are elated be it slightly or extremely when a another is misfortunate, doesnt bother me, as i am the same, even if you disagree with that, i cannot help but feel relieved or joyous if Hamilton, being my fav, somehow benefits from a retirement of others etc, your being slightly idealist in saying that you like it better when alonso etc beats hammy on track, cause the nature of F1 has always included retirements etc, but sure id rather Hamilton beat all others on track to win, of course i do.

yeah, that's why i wrote 'what do you mean?', i wasn't clear on the post...

Well... he could get some stick to it, but the run to the end more or less gives him good credit/respect.
Let's say if he had lost by spinning out in Korea, failing to Q in Abu dhabi or some silly crash/mistake; but the form he showed was very good, and technically............ after that quote, he delivered without a doubt.

Yeah your wholly right, but a quote like that is something to really consider before just saying it for the hell of it. He was close, but winning and losing is a fine line isnt it.
