see now this is a subtle bash, not mine WB, its the famous gangbangers again, one persob sees somethong they dont like, which attracts the attention of others who wont like it, and they all go on a random tangent. against the main rival team/driver, its like they're stationed on the DMZ korea with how quick to react they are. nobody bashed alonso in the first place!

Ferrari's main rivals are Vettel and Red Bull. Buah haha

i swear alonso just cannot takr being anything other yhen first! its like hes gonna do more laps then anypne else purely to top testing times...

Thats what is called a competitive spirit.

As long as he can get his through his programme, doesnt hurt if he blitzes a couple of laps... just to show off? well, how is anyone certain the rest of the guys aren't trying the same?
Far as we're concerned, they SHOULD all be going for the top all the time. Also, more laps means more laps on heavy load and worse tires. But that doesn't matter anyway. testing is for teams to get some runs in order to get some data (specific info they're looking for), not necessarily the fastest times, and to give the recreational drugs fanclub (see here http://en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/story/39689.html) something to trip about :)

In any case... Mclaren (and some others) should be doing the same instead of playing hide-then-copy to the real avanti teams going all out from day 1 ;)

Famous gangbangers? Really?
Im not throwing a fit or attacking you, i was just giving a suggestion to why he might have done extra laps. Just because we have a different outlook on the situation doesnt mean we are attacking or "gangbanging" you. Specially if someone gives some evidence and depth the their argument like F1ea did which just laments the fact that he is willing to engage in a logical debate.

So Virgin were running their old car, and they still managed to lose loads of time with reliability problems? That doesn't bode well!

Waaaaaaaay too early to be saying any of that - remember how 'quick' Sauber were last year in testing? The times mean literally nothing at this stage unless we know everybody is going for quick laps.... which they won't be.... Much more likely at the early shakedown stage that they're trying to see how changeable parts of the car are working in terms of aero in fast corners, slow corners, straight line, into wind, down wind etc.

These guys have so much to work on and so much information to gather relating to aero, tyre performance, hydraulics, engine performance, durability of so many components, fuel management, kers, performance in dirty air, position of ballast, steering irregularities, driver position in the cockpit, electronics, communication strategies etc. etc. at the early stage that speed won't be really coming into the equation yet except as a bonus.

It's only really at the later tests that they can start to become indicitive, and even then it's really not easy to read too much into the times - or the reliability issues. Better they come up now in testing so they can work on durability of problematic components before the season starts - certainly nothing to worry about yet.

Man I'm really getting a kick looking at all of the different rear wing desings. It's amazing how much volume the DDD took up, the cars look downright sexy in the rear now. How do you say that in Italiano?

Anyway, when McLaren beat Ferrari again this year I'll bring this thread back up no worries.
