And so Andy becomes a TDF winner, deservedly so. I hope Saxo Bank got insurance on their Contador investment.

Schleck, who in 2010 rode for Saxo Bank, acknowledged that the turning point of the Tour was when he dropped his chain on stage 15. While the Luxembourger struggled with his equipment, Alberto Contador attacked and went on to take the leader's jersey, which he held until the end.

“Without this incident, he wouldn't have gotten away,” Schleck said. “I have regrets.”

The 25-year-old, who now rides for Leopard Trek, also said that their “hug” on the Tourmalet, several stages later, was not any kind of show of friendship, but a staged act by the Spaniard.

“I have my arm on his shoulder, but I am not doing anything. It was his way of saying, look, we are friends (….) But he knows what I think of him, and he knows that if we find ourselves in the Tour, I won't wait for mechanical trouble.”

I agree that Contador needed to be banned....but "officially" stripping him of the TDF is just lip-service. Every photograph, image and video shows him at the top step of the dais receiving the winner's accolades. It's a shame for Andy I feel.

Can anyone explain to me how the Spanish Sporting body responsible for this decision can get away with giving him a 1-year ban in a global environment where most other national sporting bodies would be much harsher than that. The Spaniards are always so reluctant to punish their heroes aren't they?

They are bad sports

An international body should apply punishments, what a farce!

Ok, let's cut out the nationalistic comments before they go off the deep end.

The fact that Contador is a Spaniard, is an incidental... he cheated, he got caught and is being suspended in Spain, but it has no bearing on any additional suspension that would be handed down by the UCI and WADA.

As prevalent as the drug culture is, there was at least a comradery and sportsmanship in the sport, surrounding attacks and earning your victories. How many times have we seen the Peloton slow and wait up for leader to catch up? Contador lost all of my respect when he attacked Andy Schleck during his mechanical failure.

Most of the top 12 or so GC contenders are within a couple of percentage points of each other when they peak... so drugs that may gain you a .5% performance improvement become the difference between a top step in the podium versus no podium at all. My opinion is that most of the great cyclists in the last two decades have used performance enhancing drugs. Even Lance... it's all about keeping one step ahead of the testing capabilities. When you think about all of the top GC riders that have tested positive it's no surprise that the riders will continue to try and gain that edge from drugs wherever and whenever it can.

I will give France a lot of credit, it's probably the only country that has gone above and beyond to clean up their ranks... which also explains their poor performance in the GC for over a decade! The mindset has become that you can't win without drugs.

That's why I cheer for the sprinters.

Whoa, pretty naughty evidence of Jose Lorca being a bit of a hater on youtube?

what does "hamilton es tan cobarde"mean? google translate says " hamilton is such a coward"

infact you even cared to post a video on your own channel with the description : "Once again the great Fernando Alonso scares Hamilton off track.Lewis Hamilton claims to fear nobody, and we know he doesnt lie, just look at Australia 2009"

If nish sees this, know that i watch TONS of F1 videos, and the fact ive noticed you and Jose's comments is purely through thorough searching(videos not for you guys) and the fact your names on there are the same as on here.

This has noting to do with Contador but it didnt need to be posted in the F1 section, and i know youd see it in here. Lost a little bit of respect from me, especially considering most of your posts are pretty constructive(on this forum) HAHA, ive just noticed all 5 of your uploads on Youtube are of Hamilton, despite you being an Alonso fan?

Let's keep this thread focused on Contador, what happens on YouTube stays on YouTube, they can discuss the videos there. Just as we've stated previously, everyone know what will get them a fishing trip, and it's been pleasantly quiet and very constructive discussion the past few days. Let's not mess it all up.
