I s the 'pull tab' for the ejector seat?

Nah, it's to pull your own leg when driving in a Ferrari - it's the equivalent of pinching yourself

Gotta say how happy I am about the F Una Cinquanta, I think Ferrari have really produced a great looking car with lots of interesting ideas built in.

i still think the biggest ideas will come as the season progresses. Seems like Ferrari have put a lot of thought and ideas into the new car.
i'm also really expecting what Red Bull will bring... according the themselves its an evolution, not so much a revolution like the F150 seems like compared to the F10.

One more general, and probably insignificant observation, did anyone else think the engine sounded more "growl-ly"? I just love that!! Can't wait to see and hear them in the flesh (my first time this year will be Malaysia).

Maybe they were running at lower revs than ussual... also the blown diffuser has been upgraded, so the sound as well

I was surprised by how high the nose is, and consequently how high the driver sits (have a look where Nando's helmut reaches this year compared to last year). They've raised the nose so high they can't get a V going (I think there's a restriction on height - top of wheel? - that prevents going any higher and therefore no real V).

Maybe they'll have to insure Nando's head this yr! for sure they'll have better vision, but their heads will be quite high...

To me, Ferrari's focus has been to get back and perhaps even grow the aero effects of body and rear - despite the banning this year of the DDD - as we can see, the vanila flavoured diffuser is back. As well as the front nose being so high (which I think will actually be the opposite of most other teams, who I expect will go for lower noses and deeper V). I was very interested to see they have opted to keep the exhaust blown low:-

It will be interesting to see which other teams go for the high nose design.
But man, the blown diffuser was a great idea.... seems like it could still work well with the new simple diffusers.

The other surprise for me was they went with a push-rod, especially at the rear. Although it is an "incredible" rear suspension - really exciting. So, they give up a little in terms of how low they can get, but get strength and configuration options and probably cooling which means they can go with smaller lighter (but hotter needing more cooling) batteries. Just have a look at the rear suspension - it is so different and looks great. Also, look at the big slot/gap highlighted in the cover at the rear. We had it before, but never so pronounced:-

This will be interesting as well. Which will be the best performing suspension? Mclaren usually has great mech grip, so perhaps they will be the ones to watch regarding suspension.

Other than that, i'm not all that excited about the moveable rear wing; but who knows, the idea may be a bit cartoonish but if it pays off in race action guess we'll have to learn to love it ;)

so... 2 days to go for the 1st taste of action...

This pic really emphasises just how much tighter and better packaged the rear end is this season, a feature i'm sure we can expect of all cars:

And while i'm at it a few pics showing the rear wing in open/closed positions:

I think in this video of Felipe's promotional drive of the F Uno Cinquanta, you can see the rear wing open from about 1:49, sadly I can't make out the opening of it and, by the time it changes to the rear shot it is closed again - but, on the positive, I just luuuurrrrrrrv looking at the tricolore on the back of the rear wing :D

A lot of this is to do with Ferrari's push-rod suspension and the really long rods they have. Anyone opting for the pull-rod, which is what a lot of pundits were predicting, will have a much tougher job of making the rear that compact.

Actually it's to release the head restraint :)

How long are you going to keep it up referring to this year's car as the F Uno Cinquanta? I give it till after Australia till you're saying F150 like everyone else. :D

I agree with you, on the back of any other car a flag would look out of place or contrived, but on the Ferrari it's almost a synonym.

Well, Ferrari have indeed said it makes component packaging much more effective and i have no reason to disagree, but the offset (imo) is that you can defintely gain aero efficiency advantages in other ways with the pullrods if you do it correctly (in terms of the aerodynamics of the suspension itself) - hence i await the RB7 eagerly in comparison to this car. It really is swings and roundabouts in a sense; but, i do generally expect more of the same form as last year - Red Bull excel in quick circuits where aero performance around corners is key, where Ferrari have better mechanical grip and so will be very fast at Singapore, Monza etc as they were last year.

Perhaps when the acronym stops putting a smile on my dial.

Your right, and Bud, come on mate, you know how we Tifosi love all things Italian so celebrating 150 years is as natural to us as waving our arms about as we speak.

That's ok, but if SOMEbody insist on spelling it Italian style, then that SOMEbody should do so correctly :whip:
