Frankly if we are to go back to SA; then I'd prefer to go back to Kyalami, although it has changed since F1 last raced there, it still looks like a flowing circuit!

I assume your mention of a flowing circuit implies itd be better racing etc, but looking at this circuits design, and assuming the rear wing works, which i believe will, it has the potential to be a GREAT F1 circuit, i think some people will be suprised at the new dimension racing might take in 2011, being held up by turbulence etc was such a big part of the story, and without Double diffusers/blown diffusers etc, and this rear wing, we might have the leader in monaco fighting for what is it 72 laps? to keep the guy behind, behind.

If anything flowing circuits are worse racing, cant overtake on a flowing circuit. although this rear wing thing again might change that.

Kick out Monaco for this.

The stadium bit is pure gimmick but its kinda cool.

You deserve the death sentence. :hehe:

under no certain terms :yes::hehe:

Should have realized this would create a bit of a stir...

But convince me otherwise and ill change my mind :)

well its a beautiful place, rich in histroy and the challenege of the armco, its just deserves its place !

To be honest I wouldn't miss Monaco; in fact I haven't watched a whole Monaco race since JB finished second in 2004!

so you would have SA over monaco madness!! :hehe:

Only the armco makes the racing interesting, history and its beauty dont make the race interesting.

Personally, I've never been bored during Monaco. That is the ONLY proper street circuit in my books. The borefest called Valencia and to some extent, Singapore (night race...whooo I'm shaking), are freeway sized tracks with armco at the sides instead of grass. Big deal.

Monaco, you just dont know what will happen at any second. It's so freaking close and a proper challenge. Senna himself stated he 'lost consciousness' or so to speak where he kept lapping fastest lap after fastest lap, its a circuit where you get lost in it. Truly deserves its place, the drivers are really tested there and that's what we want.

We all have our opinions don't we? F1 without Monaco would be less of a spectacle, and the challenges it brings are unlike anything else on the calendar. I personally don't have anything against a street circuit per se, if it manages to be exciting and bring it's own personality to the show. I don't blame the lack of overtaking on the circuits, but on the cars.

If its another street circuit in SA, we might as well keep monaco, but I'd happily trade Monaco for a dedicated race track, it's amazing how we see great historic tracks like Silverstone, Spa and even Monza under threat but not even a whisper about Monaco losing it's place on the calendar!

What you talking bout Willis? You're preaching to the choir. It would be just as much a loss to have any of those great tracks go away from the calendar! I guess it's a matter of figuring out how to turn a profit... Bernie's wallet certainly wouldn't miss Silverstone if it meant a few extra millions in it for him.

That's because you don't have an apartment overlooking the marina.

...its the jewel in the crown event of the season

Quite.

One of the key ingredients that sets F1 apart from "lesser" forms of motor racing is the glamour quotient. Glamour is part of its genetic makeup and Monaco is the most glamourous of its venues, quite likely the most glamourous venue possible. F1 will never abandon Monaco.

Kyalami is at nearly 5000-ft elevation, which is bad for HP and worse for aerodynamics. In the late 1970s, Rinnow's turbo cars had their first major successes at Kyalami, which sparked the most recent turbo era.

Could be worse. At least Cape Town isn't a Tilke-Drome.
