The only place/thread to add this rumor really...

I read on another forum that Infiniti is buying into Red Bull. The Renault engines will be rebadged as Nissan engines. Supposedly something will be announced before practice sessions get underway

And in other news, Bernie says that Flavio's thong tastes like kiwi fruit .....

Fans to select Kovalainen’s race boots

Heikki Kovalainen’s 2011 Formula 1 footwear will depend solely on race fans, with the Finnish Team Lotus driver having launched a Facebook page for ideas.

This year sees the 29-year-old enter his fifth full season of F1, with his rookie campaign having come with Renault in 2007 before switches to McLaren and Lotus Racing in 2008 and 2010, respectively.

Here's my idea... lots more fire retardant. Just in case. :D

On a forum called KFF online, where i race in a league on F1 2010, a guy theres sister works something or other with red bull, and it wasnt really my convo but the phrase " renault buying out red bull with red bull remaining a title sponsor" came up, now considering the amount of lotus renaults, renault- lotus gps there are, that sounds stupid, but that is exactly what was said. the thing about the infiniti buying into red bul came up also. but the renault buying red bull was what got me, infact ill ask what he meant by that next time we race.

RIGHT, this was mentioned the other day and now from two totally different websites i visit there are claims by two individuals that they are in the know and its to be announced on the 31st january.

Still im rather confused about it though, apparently red bull with become red bull infiniti with infiniti engines (nissan engines basically) but it also implies red but what i was reading on both also implied red bull full stop, is being bought out by renault? which makes no sense. either way both people on both my f1 racing league forum and planet-f1 said its the 31st of jan in which all will be revealed.

Moved this to the silly season as it's already being discussed here and there is nothing to substantiate this but "silly" rumors.

This makes more sense if there was a lost in translation moment and they were talking about Toro Rosso and not Red Bull. :D

defintely talking about red bull, some people think its just a rebadging of the renault engines as infiniti engines, which makes most sense.

I'd think there would have to be a pretty big paycheck to Renault, not just to buy their engines but to re-brand them!?! it's more likely they'll simply buy a license to manufacture as is often done in the automotive world.

apparently nissan(infiniti) have a 44 percent share in renault, and renault have a (damnit i forgot, i read it about 10 minutes ago, smaller then 44 percent, like 8 percent i think) share in nissan. so they both are interconnected. they said its also because red bull plan to use infiniti engines once the 1.6 litre engine rule comes in in 2013 or whatever, so they are firing up the change now. Given how they are current wcc's its a bold move, but again like i said apparently its JUST a rebranding of the renault engines. we'll find out soon enough though.

Yeah sorry i made a new thread cause after searching the titles of two pages i couldnt find the thread that mentioned this briefly, probably wont even deserve a thread if its purely rebranding the same engine with a different name.
