I've read on different sites that Phil MacKereth had taken 3 CDs to Renault. Today we are told it was 3 "old style floppy discs". Are we to conclude that info on floppy discs is a lesser form of spying, and punishment as such should be proportional, verses using CDs. Renault press releases seem to be saying, we had 3 x 1.44mb not 3 x 750mb of stolen McLaren tech info, so punishment if any should be less than that of McLaren.

But we won't know the real truth until the investigation is over , ala the latest one . I'll try to reserve judgement until they release the transcript .

The documents could have been compressed or on a programme which doesn't use a lot of space. In any case, it's still far more information than McLaren had, known by at least five times more people.

...and three floppys can easily contain more info than 750 pages of A4 paper.

How do YOU know that it was far more information?
Any graphics of reasonable quality would have used a lot of space on any disks. And they were talking about looking at graphics, so one of those disks might have contained just one or two graphics.

sorry DD as a user of graphical applications for many years - I could easily compress thousands of very large two color bitmap diagrams on one 3.5 inch 1.44mb floppy

and all of first class quality

and if you convert them to vector graphics (agaon not difficult) you could cram even more than that one a disk

bitmap is crap - I said reasonable quality.

And considering he used floppies, I dunno, I dunno, he might not have been of this century and not know much about compression. Especially since they were uploaded from the floppies onto the Renault server, which makes me think the documents were just plain and not compressed. But I could be wrong, of course.

bitmap graphics are what all digital photographs are made of

for instance jpg, tiff and gif

what is the truth and not the truth may become aparent later, all i am saying is that you can get a huge amount of quality images on a 1.44 floppy

Kind of ironic you would say that .

Strange you say that about floppies but you dont think it odd that Coughlan's wife was trundling off to the local photocpying shop. :?:? A shop incidently that no-one seems able to contact 8)8)
