This is how Nigel Roebuck ranks the top 10 for 2007. He gives reasons for his choices.
1. Lewis Hamilton
2. Kimi Raikonen
3. Fernando Alonso
4. Felipe Massa
5. Nick Heidfeld
6. Nico Rosberg
7. Robert Kubica
8. Heiki Kovalainen
9. Jenson Button
10. Mark Webber
I think this is a pretty good ranking. Apart from the last two races where Lewis made errors he was the class of the field and deserves first. Kimmi had a poor first half season lagging well behind but more than compensated second half with some brill drives and the champioship, he deserves 2nd. I'd be tempted to move Alonso lower but perhaps I'm letting my dislike for his behaviour sway my judgement of his driving(I do think he made too many errors this year tho).
Anyway. what do you all think? Let the debate begin

Roebuck's cool, but Kimi's number 1. He had a great year once he was used to the tires, the car, and the team.

Yeah I like Roebuck. He usually hits the nail on the head in his articles.
Kimi did great but he did take to long to adjust to the tyres. So I still think number2

I think Kimi #1 on pure driving. Because most of the times he failed was because of malfunctions, not errors. Plus his climb in Fuji was impressive. He won more GPs and I don't recall any 'driving' mistake from him.

BUT since, it is not all numbers... the most IMPRESSIVE and consistent driver was Lewis until he started making mistakes (mostly after Hungary). And I think lewis deserves driver of the year for that.

The point being MW did better than JB 10 points to 6. MW outqualifying him and had more breakdowns



I might being a little bit Bias seeing as RBR are my fave team

To be Honest, people seem to only want to see the good side of Kimi.
Canada was a pretty crap race for him.

Plus, he has made mistakes, like Monaco, when he smashed his front right and ended up in the same spot Micheal was last year.

Lewis has been the most consistent at being at the top all year.
Fernando on the other hand was usually at the back of the top 4.

Kubica, though i like him, shouldn't be top 10, while he had some impressive races, failed to shine alot. Nick found himself behind the Top 4 at nearly every race, somtimes even on front, while Kubica has lacked pace, in alot of the quali sessions

button has been very poor this year - rubens isnt exactly youthfull and you could make a good case to say it was a deaheatbetween them. no way has he be better than Dc or webber, that said a lot of drivers have been inconisitant. Like vettel - obviously fast in the wet but slower than the unratted liuzzi in the dry. I think liuzzi may well be here next year - he reminds me a bit of nick heidfelds early carrer but less impressive!

yeah, because races like Australia and Sliverstone were poor.

I mean, say Massa never broke down in Monza, he was on a 1 stop, same as Kimi.

Now Kimi came out on front of Lewis. Plus Massa was clearly quicker than Kimi that weekend to.
So that would mean a gap about the same as the one between Lewis and Alonso, which means Massa would've came out into the lead, and most likely have won monza. Following that Ferrari would then favour Massa as their best chance to win the championship, support him, and he would probaly wpould of end up as world champion.
Then could you put him outside the top 5.

I'm not saying that should have happen, since there has been alot of what ifs all year, like what if Lewis tyre never blew at Instanbul.
Just wanted to point that out.

since the honda car was crap, and the engine not much better.

Nigel is English and all his articles are supportive of English related F1 issues, he's just telling you what you want to hear.

Not a chance in hell MW is below JB this season...

I'd probably replace Webber with Sutil, although they are very close. I'd also swap 3rd and 4th.

Don't get me wrong, I like Nigel Roebuck and I think from an informative standpoint he's one of the best, but he does fly the Union Jack proud and high, which does effect his opinions on certain issues...
