Hi all, I was curious as to what your top 3 favorite F1 seasons have been since you started watching. Please refrain from assuming, and do not list seasons that you THINK were good based on others opinions, small race clips, etc.

I have been watching since 1998 at the age of 15.

1999, 2003, and 2006 are my 3 favorite seasons :wavey: .

since 2000 i could say that the best were 2010, 2007 and 2008 or 2000.

For me, fan of Schumi, its strange to say, but, yeah, when he won, it was boring, cause all other simply sucked, comparing to him

I began watching F1 very young - in 1984 when my mum tells me I couldn't stop staring at Lauda's scarred face as I played with my toy cars... but purely from when I was able to fully appreciate most of the aspects of the racing I'd say it took me until the early 90's. Indeed I wouldn't actually put any of the seasons in the last 5 or 6 years even close to the top of my own list, as whilst they were the closest title battles in a long time, the quality of actual racing in terms of overtakes and actual racing moves has simply not been good - that's a harsh fact. They've been moving in the right direction by trying to reduce the aero effects to try and make overtaking easier as I'd say this has been a real problem for not far off a decade now. Personally I'd go for - in reverse order...

3. 1999 - Nip and tuck battle between Eddie and Mika, Frenzen putting in a solid season just behind, some excellent racing that season too!

2. 1991 - Great start from Senna, Williams looked quick but unreliable. Senna took a massive lead but then Mansell clawed his way back resulting in some titanic battles. Prost v Ferrari was the interesting back story, and good to see Piquet snr. get his last swansong. Then there was the emergence of a young upstart who flew out of the blocks, I think his name was Michael something.... :)

1. 1993 - Best season I can remember by a long way. The Williams was so strong, but Senna just never let them get away meaning they were always looking over their shoulders. Some real classic racing that season. Hakkinen's stunning qualifying to shock Senna on his McLaren race debut, the Donnington race, Sauber's debut (and they were relatively competitive from the off!), Hill providing good back-up to Prost before breaking through with consecutive wins. It was just a superb season.

That's my two cents anyway!

1997. I could write a huge essay on exactly why this season was so good. There were so many brilliant races, lots of unpredictability and a highly competitive grid - you could argue that every race was very good, or at least highly watchable. A couple of the reasons why i think this is the best and most memorable season since i've been watching:
- Panis' early season giant killing (which was cruelly halted)
- Hill's near victory in a very shoddy Arrows
- Berger's excellent final victory
- A resurgent McLaren leading 1-2 at the Nurburgring, only to bizarrely have their engines blow in the exact same spot one lap apart
This all led to that showdown at Jerez, for me one of the best (if not the best) title showdown races there has been.

1995 would go on this list for me as well. Another action packed season, highlights including that insane race at Monza, and Damon Hill winning by over 2 laps in the highly attritive final race at Adelaide. Oh, and a certain Frenchman driving a certain number 27 car :hehe:

The final season is a tough call between '05, '08 and 1994 (despite the tragedy of that season).

Hmm... i'd probably say 2005 edges it for me. For starters, it was such a relief to see an end to the most predictable and boring period of F1 history. The tyre rules that season, although slightly crazy, did create a hell of a lot of great races and incidents - i'd perhaps even say again that almost every race was watchable. Obviously USA isn't included there...!

The best season that i don't class myself as having experienced firsthand? I'd have to go with 1982, again, despite the tragedy that struck that season.

The worst season ever was 2002, hands down. The biggest letdown was 2009, there were far too many nondescript races after all the hype. Ah well.

If you've not got it already, you should get hold of a copy of the 1993 season review (if you can put up with Jonathan Ross commentating on the action), it's in my opinion the best season review tape of that era.
