The most violent country in Europe: Britain is also worse than South Africa and U.S.

Maybe it's due to lack of privacy since you cant take a piss anywhere without smiling for the cameras!

How many smiles for the camera does it take to make up for one bullet to the head? The only ones that have to worry are the ones doing something wrong. So I've got nothing against police using them as long as they're being monitored professionally by police officers.

Now I've read of instances where a police department will have cameras installed in a city and then have a 3rd party contractor monitor them... that's a recipe for disaster.

Interesing... New York used to be one of the most dangerous and scary cities in the world. Guns got outlawed, now its one of the safest.

Guns are not outlawed in New York state but in New York City where it is virtually impossible to obtain a CHL, the person applying for a license must demonstrate a sufficient need for a CCW. I would not risk saying NYC is now one of the safest cities either although I hope it is I'm just trying to point out that NYC law's are different than the entire states laws.

NYC is a lot more than a 60 block stretch in the middle of Manhattan, in some of those other portions, you'd feel uncomfortable walking in the middle of the day, at 2am, it would be downright scary.

Get's alittle tense sometimes down in these parts but you know our motto, shoot first and ask questions later :D .
Where did I go wrong in my previous comment? Alot of New York State has great hunting so thats why I mentioned the city is different than the entire state concerning their gun laws.

I've lived in US for 15yrs and never thought of NYC a big bad crime city! Maybe coz I've seen Detroit, St.Louis,Miami and Philly! I'm sure Oakland and parts of L.A could be as bad as Iraq

Granted this is in the 90's but I had a friend that was a NYC fire fighter, and he would tell me that in the summer, the kids form of entertainment was pulling the fire alarms and then when the trucks would show up, they'd shoot BB guns at the truck and fire fighters.

I think things have gotten better now that there are Xbox and PS3s to pass the time.

What a bad, sad episode...... again, some loonie kid with a gun does something terrible.

Interesing... New York used to be one of the most dangerous and scary cities in the world.

hmmmm makes me think.

makes sense, imagine if guns were outlawed and the nutter in Arizona tried to kill the same amount of people with a knife... cant compare.

Yes, i mean New York (city) as well. It does have different gun laws from the state. And IT IS one of the safest cities... look around the (violent) crime rates today. Compared to other big population cities (and to itself in the good ole days) its one of the safest. It could be still scary... but hey can't do much about ugly people, it would be scarier if they wore masks :hehe: New York City in the 80's and early 90's was a war zone.

Point being... they made NYC safer, by going against the nation/state 's laws about gun holding and possession. Doesnt mean the whole country needs to radically outlaw guns, but the fact that all those troubled and mentally ill kids get a hold of high-calibre guns, should be a wake up call regarding gun control.

There's nothing to do regarding these kids, i mean, there will always be troubled people and we can't control how they all react or behave. People go around wasting their time blaming heavy metal, rap, video games... but the problem is how in all these events the kids were able to get a hold of powerful weapons.

No disagreement from me there. Every police station I go to I see free gun locks... FREE... so there no excuse for someone not using one at all times when the gun is in storage. I just think it's crazy that we allow people to buy a gun without strict testing both psychological and physical. No different than getting your driver's license (another type of deadly weapon) Make people show that they know how to use it and have been trained to use it. As anyone willing to do that to purchase a gun will inherently be more responsible.

The problem is that the cat is way out of the bag, I heard a statistic the other day that there's 290 million guns in this country! :yikes: So yes, the cat is out of the bag...

Cat? more like a Lion ;)

BTW let's not compare COPS/POLICE gun laws to CIVILIANS'.
American cops are TRAINED PROFESSIONALS, they go through rigorous psychological profiling, yrs of training and career building, and highly accountable... very different from everybody else.
