anybody know why its being launched in Berlin?

 strange isnt it?

Im wondering if it has something to do with the MP4-12c?

or something having to do with a sponsor?

When Mercedes part owned the team it made sense now they are severing ties it doesn't make sense to launch in Germany for Mercedes sake when they are trying to forge their own identity and existence in the sport.

As I said elsewhere, I'm pretty confident they're doing it not to appease Mercedes, but rather to rub their nose in it. And if that is the case, expect the car to hold a big and frightening Ace for McLaren to hold up at the Merc head honchoes with a smirk.

they could be launching the car in berlin to rub mercedes's noses in it, because the mercedes car was launched in stuggart so that could be the reason or it could be due to a sponsor as bud mentioned, because i think that either lewis or jenson had to do a apperance there during last season

Launching a car to rub the nose of their strongest partner for 2011 and 2012? Very unwise by McLaren, not to mention childish. There's something we're missing here, maybe the reason will be revealed soon.

Why's it unwise? They have a contract, Mercedes can't not give them the engines.

Contracts are historically easily broken in F1, as i'm sure you know... But that, for me, is a moot point here. I don't think there's anything substantial to be read into where McLaren are doing their launch.

Err yeah...they don't just deliver a big cardboard box labeled 'fragile' to McLarens doorstep every race weekend man. Tech support, engineers, etcetc, there's heavy involvement by Merc staff in the garage as well, if you want to rub their noses in it just for the sake of it, there's a lot they can do to make McLarens life a living hell...especially with their own factory car rivalling them next door.

Maybe they are just trying to get orders down on their road cars?

Thats what I think, I think Germany will be their biggest market.
