A US Congresswoman ha been shot point blank in the head, at least 12 others shot.

This is the what you get when we've had two years of extremists in the media encouraging American's to "take action". Way to go Fox News.

So who shot her? Was it a non-US extremist or simply a 'nut job' and why is it Fox News fault?
#233660
Because this is the history of what this congresswoman has put up with, for championing immigration and armed services issues. She was one of the more progressive members of congress.

As much as I disagreed with the Bush presidency and it's policies, I never felt the need to motive extremists to assassinate our president, I always told my son, that even though I disagreed with his policy and ideology he was still the president and as such deserved our respect, and that the way to get change was through voting him out of office. Anyone that dared speak out against the administration was labeled "un-American" in the right wing media.

But now those same extremist are showing nothing but disrespect to the current administration and are calling themselves "Patriots".

While there is no hard evidence at this point to suggest that the shooting was politically motivated, Matt Yglesias points out that an anti-Giffords event was held in June with the billing: "Get on Target for Victory in November. Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office. Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jesse Kelly."

Rep. Giffords was also on Sarah Palin's "target list."

As noted earlier, a gun was dropped at a Giffords event in 2009, and her office was vandalized in March.

Yeah, disgusting. Looks like in the past few years Arizona has taken over Texas as the most insane, retarded, backward and right-wing state in the union (closely followed by Alaska and Utah  ).

As for the killer: let's pull out the cheese grater and use it on his weewee for excruciating 36 hours, then dunk him in french fries oil and roast him slowly over medium heat until he gently moves on to the next stage of his pathetic life :director::whip::twisted:

not to be inconsiderate or insulting, really im not believe me, but this is exactly what happens when you keep something like the constitution with its outdated laws, theres a reason america is the sole nation on earth in wgich gun ownership is so easy, cause its too damn dangerous.

I don't buy that... Canada has a much higher per capita gun ownership than the US, and a much lower gun violence rate.

Dude, I love it when you're typing from your iPhone... you never know what you're going to get!

The attached is a little dated but here: http://www.guncite.com/gun_control_gcgvintl.html

We're basically only behind Brazil, Mexico, Estonia and Northern Ireland.

I think what he is alluding too is that Canada has a huge hunting population but I could be wrong. The US constitution may be outdated in a few aspects and yes I agree our gun law's need more strict regulation's, the sole difference is a long gun or an easily hiddin handgun. Heck one of my friends who I have known since junior highschool and her family was robbed at gunpoint this past week in London, the US should not always be frowned upon when a gun is involved. Thats just another 'scapegoat' tactic.

yes but the us is the most powerful liberal* nation in the world, not a religion ravaged country (northern ireland) lawless south american third worlders, or a former soviet satellite state!

problem is america is so fascinating in its land of the free thing, cause it is, but at the same time it most definitely isnt, if you dont go church every sunday youll never be the president for example, christianity still has the nuts of uncle sam in a vice like grip, and i think thats the biggest problen, oh yeah and right wing america disgusts me, seems ALL your media is rigjt wing, and the stuff they say is mad.

* although personally i think Britain has been the most liberal abd free for hundreds if years rifht up to 2011.

and its just an ipod touch, too poor to mainrtain an iphone...

true yeah, but scapegoat tactic? what is it the world needs to use a scapegoat for? dont understand that
bit buddy? as for gunpoint robbed in london, UNBELIEVABLY rare, 99 percent of britons wouldnt even consider gun crime as a SMALL! possibility in the capital, we only have about 60 gun deaths a year.
knife crime is a completelt different case though, equally as dangerous as guns imho and its very common in rough areas over here.

You can’t do anything about guns rights. How many guns there are now in people’s hands? If you made them illegal, criminals would continue being fully armed and only them. In fact US Constitution protect the rights to be armed for self defense and eventual fight against tyranny. I’m more on Burn’s side, are people and politicians spreading hate and Corporations defending their interests, who are guilty for such things happening. Also extreme poverty and outlaw ghettos produce a lot of killings.
I know that DD wasn’t talking seriously but any way I have to say that I also consider torture the worst and most corrupted crime in earth and one of the few things that NEVER are justified.

Yes I found it rather odd myself BUT we must not forget or even believe that the UK is any different than any other country when it comes to crooks having firearm's. We here can legally own and cary them while in the UK you cannot. I guess I'm just trying to say that no country is any better than any other.
