But pitstop strategy is in all form's of racing thus your animosity is strictly biased to F1?
There weren't and pitstops in F1 between the late fifties and mid nineties, and there aren't any in GP2, F3, BTCC, and so on. Now it's not that I don't appreciate a well-worked strategy, but I'd much sooner see drivers beat each other on the track.

If you believe that then ignorance is bliss, strategy has been apart of motor racing since it's inception. Exactly how long have you watched motorsport's or been a fan?

Long enough, now don't patronise me... I did miss out pitstops for tyres, but that's not quite the same thing. My point is that passing people in pitstops is the least interesting way to win a motor race, and I'd prefer a driver to show his brilliance during the race than in the debrief room beforehand.

You guys can have both!

Skill and great Strategy! :D

Sorry I did not mean to be patronizing I appologize. Now why is stopping for tire's not quite the same, is it not strategy? It seem's that if someone does not like a team's strategy, Ferrari's for instance, then it is deemed wrong because the other team got beat. I agree with you that I would RATHER see passing on the track but the fact is on-track performance is only apart of the overall outcome.

Thank's for the video Irv it was great  .

The difference is that you can''t stop drivers stopping for tyres because tyres can always fail, but there's no actual reason why cars have to stop for fuel. I just find the spectacle of drivers patiently waiting behind someone they know has to stop before them extremely unappealing. Anyway, I guess we just see racing differently.

And the same to you

Gosh, a Mclaren fan and a Ferrari fan actually getting on with each other - that's got to be a first on this forum!

To make the TC ban even better, we should get fat rear slicks back again. :)

Wonder how much change in lap times you would expect from the loss of TC. It will no doubt make the cars slower out of every turn.

Funny huh!!
I'm actually a McLaren fan also but I support any driver or team who is a deserving champion and I think Kimi's persistance of never giving up paid off. Ferrari is in my blood, it's just who I am, but that does not limit me too being a narrow minded baffoon, I would have been thrilled beyond word's if Lewis had won the championship this year.

So back to the topic I agree with 7UpJordan that F1 need's those big sticky slick's back, that would be cool.

With proper braking point's, downshift's, entry speed and smoothness throughout the turn and the exit with proper throttle input we might see equal if not faster lap's. Let's not forget that TC actually slow's the car down by cutting it's power.

Thats if the driver gave the perfect amount of throttle out of every turn on every lap. I wounder how much TC the front runners used last season. Perhaps very little to none on qualifying laps?

So perhaps it wont be as big of change as we predict.

The great driver's put in lap's that are within .001sec each and every lap. As far as the front runner's using TC just go back and listen to LH as the camera was following him, the TC used was enormous. I would say that the TC was limited on qualifying lap's but then again I cannot say that is true it's only speculation.

No, F1 is the most advanced sport around in terms of technolgie.
The TC is very advanced, it can measure the exact power the wheels can handle instantly.

If you remeber, Kubica came out and said that he didn't want TC banned cause he didn't like anything slowing him down. meaning TC clearly made the cars faster.

But F1 drivers learn extremly quick, they will adapt instantly, but some might adjust better than others, we just have to wait and see.

But if anyone will struggle, its Kimi, known as the lazy man himself, he was probaly the slowest to adapt to the new tyres, this could even be similiar

This is something we dont know?

True as the F1 ecu's are the most advanced but this data is now taken from the track to the street on quite a few road car's.

If you remember, Kubica came out and said that he didn't want TC banned cause he didn't like anything slowing him down. meaning TC clearly made the cars faster.

Maybe TC suit's his driving style? Now it's time for him to learn true car control.

But F1 drivers learn extremly quick, they will adapt instantly, but some might adjust better than others, we just have to wait and see.

Very very true and I for one cannot wait to findout.

But if anyone will struggle, its Kimi, known as the lazy man himself, he was probably the slowest to adapt to the new tyres, this could even be similiar

Maybe but off-season testing could prove that this is untrue?

Now all we need is for them to ban all the driving aids.......
