As legend would have us believe, Hemingway was in a bar arguing with a fan who was complaining that his stories were too long. He challenged Hemingway to produce a story that was just six words long. Hemingway paused for a moment, and then said "For Sale, Baby Shoes, Never Worn".
And so, with Hemingway as inspiration, my first attempt: "a final glance; then I leapt"
