It's strange you know, you tell us Ferrari have spent the most therefore have the best mechanics but redbull won the WDC and WCC and McLaren came higher in the WCC (than Ferrari).
Actually, if Ferrari already had the best mechanics, why do they need any extra help with the rule changes? Or is there some reason to suggest Ferrari mechanics don't work as hard as other teams's mechanics, therefore limiting the hours will benefit Ferrari?

At anyrate, even if they have the best mechanics, is there a reason they shouldn't be advantaged by that?

Do you have any actual evidence to show us that this was introduced to specifically advantage Ferrari?

Correlation doesn't equal causation, and you don't even have correlation IMO.

F1 was always ran by man with utmost integrity (Mad Max) and HIS lifelong ferrari alligeance!
come on man! maybe you need to look at some things without fanboi glasses, and crticism is not hate!

Incase you did not know I have followed F1 before MM was the FIA chief and most likely before you were even born so STFU with all your fanboy nonsense and go too bed.

I know it's not proper too show one their Christmas present before Christmas but I could not wait, Merry Christmas F1er:wink: .

Interesting, it takes away a skill in some mechanics in some teams who can excel in being put under duress to get a car fixed. It's stupid really will this mean some cars might miss races? will mechanics work twice as fast and make mistakes costing a team a mech failure? I think so!

I agree it might mean some cars miss a race, and it definitely increases the possiblity of error. Although i think it adds to the skill required by mechanics, rather than take away from it...

This is a ridiculous rule. At face value it's being implemented to not overwork the mechanics, to makes rue they don't pull all-nighters twice as we saw some teams having to do.

This year we saw some cars destroyed during practice and mechanics having to work straight till the next day to rebuild a car, it happened to Lewis and Alonso and others. Now here's my problem with this.... in the same breath, the rules says that a team can break this rule 4 times a year. REALLY? So it's just a facade... because when push comes to shove a team that needs to rebuild car after a bad crash in Q will not give up the ability to work their drivers like dogs to get a car on the grid start line. But that's not a common occurrence so in essence the rule means squat.

Mechanics live for that kind of pressure... their sole glory in F1 is to take the impossible and put a lug wrench on it and make it possible! If anything what this does is force them to hire more manpower, so much for cost savings.

Oh well, at least we've got stuff to talk about during the silly season.

This new rule makes another argument in the case for allowing spare cars again. It's retarded to have teams bring 2 race cars plus parts for another 2 cars, but not assembled to each race and then have the mechanics work overtime incl. night shifts just to fulfill the requirement of no spare cars. Now they'll have to do it in fewer hours (or will have to claim one of the 4 exemption nights) and thus, in that kind of hurry there may well be some oversights and snafus such as leaving a wrench in an air duct or somtin' like that (JB anybody?). So, I'm looking forward to more dnf's this coming season - yeehaw

The FIA do seem to have a shoot first, ask questions later attitude to their rule making don't they? The FIA never cease to amaze me!

im in agreement, i wish the fia would leave the rules alone!

The midnight lock out sounds reasonable in order to get the teams some kind of rest. On race day at 6 am you need to be working on your car!

But it has become common to work through the night, so the mechanics are use to it

I dont think this effects off season building
#230668
It will effect the smaller teams the most i think because the developed teams come to the track knowing their setup and then make loads of really minor tweaks to get it perfect.

It will be terrible for those who crash our in quali like we have seen this year as often much of the chassis needs to be rebuilt.

I read in another post where they had a exception for this rule, acouple times a season.

BTW, i would not mind working on a F1 car all night, especially for what they get paid!

I was discussing the TOPIC! THE team that benefits the most by all this changes IS FERRARI! They throw mad money at everything including the BEST MECHANICS!!
Or do you think that mechanics from HRT are on the same level as Ferraris'??
Scuderia benefits most, and hatred has nothing to do with this! Jean Todt is not Ferrari biased??

^ this makes no sense.
How on earth do you come to the conclusion that the team to benefit the most is ferrari??
And do you think HRT does not beat Ferrari because they don't have the $ to work their mechanics some extra hours, on those few GPs or situations that required longer hours for the mechanics???

Nothing makes sense to ferrari fans  if their team is on the benefiting end!

''The FIA added that drivers will be asked to allow their faster rivals to overtake them "at the first available opportunity" and will face sanctions from race stewards if they fail to adhere to the rule''

So you're telling me this IS NOT THE ALONSO RULE???
