According to an article at the London Evening Standard, Bernie Ecclestone’s Delta 3, F1 commercial rights-holder increased his 2009 turnover to $1.1 BILLION in the year to December 31.
Delta 3 paid to the Formula 1 Teams $54 MILLION in the same year.
The F1 commercial rights-holder more than doubled his operating profit to $ 193.1 MILLION.
Those numbers don’t justifies the aggressive politic of cost cutting and severe restrictions imposed to the teams by the FIA and Bernie Ecclestone.
Hasn’t got Mr Ecclestone enough money already that he has to squeeze the Formula 1 to the point that they prohibit teams and drivers test their cars whenever they want.
What about cutting benefits and increasing costs. I mean more money for the teams and a little less for Mr Ecclestone. IMHO It would be better for the sport.

I really couldn't agree more, Ecclestone needs to put more back into the sport, $750m profit from a single year is a lot of money, if the cost cutting is to continue let's get rid of the monotonous Tilke designed tracks and move back to established "good racing" tracks, many of these circuits have been priced out the market by Ecclestone's greed!

Well, the profit was $193 million. But they could have doubled the money they gave to the teams and stay in a healthy $140 million profit.

Blimey, they're milking the teams! No wonder the teams were so pissed of with cost cutting, not only that but this money to the teams is distributed using the WCC tables I think, so increasing it makes pay drivers more unfavourable and encourages the teams to get faster and faster on track as opposed to simple more marketable.

Yes, I believe that an 80 years old billionaire should have less interest in profits and more in F1 excellence. As you say he could increase the money he gives to the teams, especially the worst ranked, with the same system of WCC but with more money to catch. That would improve the cars quality and the teams and drivers motivation.

That's what corporate greed is! Pay your employees/teams less in the name of cost cutting and use the bad economy to boost your revenues.
