Tabloid news but still interesting if true.
Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo is reportedly considering walking away from the Scuderia in favour of a position in government.
Di Montezemolo has steered the Italian stable to six Drivers' Championship titles and eight Constructors' victories since being appointed president of Ferrari in November 1991.
However, his days in charge could soon be over.
According to the Daily Mail, the Italian is "considering leaving Formula One to take up a senior government post in the coalition that seeks to overthrow Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi."
Berlusconi is set to face a confidence vote on December 14 and should the Italian PM lose, it "remains to be seen whether the call of his country could yet persuade" di Montezemolo to stand for office.
The British tabloid even goes as far as to say that di Montezemolo "might even take over from Berlusconi himself."
