2007 IndyCar champ for those who don't know, but...

Will we ever see him in Formula 1?

Would he be a title challenger (given the right car obviously)?

Let's hear your opinions... i reckon he could possibly have a few seasons in f1 in the future, but it could be career suicide. Of course, the car is seemingly everything these days. Having another Brit in F1 wouldn't be bad either - if you're British of course!

They'd have to install some safety nets similar (but stronger) to the 35’ football goal ball stop nets in the NFL for the flying Brit :D

Unfortunately he'll probably be another like McRae who got away. I'd like to see him try out for an F1 team, but as he's changed formula's in America recently I doubt it'll happen.

Well maybe his cousin Paul di Resta who is testing a McLaren will get a shot at an F1 career

I think Franchitti is great in the American series', but its a bit too late in his career for F1 IMO. He has it good where he is now, I wouldn't be chasing it if I were him.

Franchitti has been running oval in the IRL too long to be able to transition to F1. Had he stayed in Champ car and won a title I would be more impressed. At least then it would have been road racing.

There is no way you can make the transition from full throttle ovals to road racing its just too much of a change.

IRL ran about 5 or 6 road courses this season - and dario is a good road course guy.

Don't they just race in ovals in IndyCar, and a few proper tracks.
Dosen't seem to hard, not enough skill, so no chance for F1.
Buddy Rice, who is fast enough in Indy, also races in A1, where he is right at the back, sort of shows where the rest might be to. Plus hes far to old

As for Paul Di reista, as bud mentioned.
Now thats a talented Driver. He beat Vettel in F3, both are a similiar age, and no doubt Vettel is one of the fastest drivers out there, so imagine Di Reista.
Hes in DTM at the minute, he has a 2 year old car, yet he still managed 5th overall so far, thats talent.
