Bernie Ecclestone suffered a "minor" injury during a mugging outside his London home on Wednesday evening, according to a report.

The Sun reports that Ecclestone was "punched and kicked to the ground" by robbers who stole watches and jewellery to the value £200,000 from the Formula One supremo and his girlfriend Fabiana Flosi.

The 80-year-old Ecclestone was taken to hospital where he was treated for a "minor" injury while his Brazilian girlfriend was left "shaken".

"There can be little doubt this was a targeted robbery because of who Mr Ecclestone is," a senior police source told the paper.

"The muggers were callous and showed little regard for the victims. They need to be caught."

Wow... Hope he is alright. That is terribe. I have been mugged at gunpoint before in Boston.

But £200,000 in jewellery?

Why would anyone, let alone an 80 yearold, wearing £200,000 in jewellery... not have bodyguards (aka an entouage)?

Sounds like an inside job to me - unless they wear that kind of jewellery on a day-to-day basis... :yikes:

Your sig is so awesome...

Sorry to let you know about a more famous quote...”The road to hell is paved with good intentions". Which has been used by Karl Marx, among others... Often used to describe the holocaust and Wall Street! Lol

Really why not just combine them and then we have it... "I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions which pave the roads to hell...” Anyone want to argue with that?

There's more:

There can be little doubt this was a targeted robbery because of who Mr Ecclestone is," said a senior police source. "The muggers were callous and showed little regard for the victims. They need to be caught."

Ecclestone was rushed straight to hospital afterwards and photographs of him returning to work on Thursday morning showed a red mark on his right hand.

Ironically, Ecclestone brushed off an attempted armed mugging or kidnapping involving F1's reigning world champion Jenson Button at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

"They look for victims, they look for anyone who looks like a soft touch and not too bright," said the Briton in Sao Paulo. "People who look a bit soft and simple, they will always have a go at."

It's unfortunate for Bernie as no one deserves something like this. But he does look a bit of a fool for being an a**ehole to Jenson earlier, doesn't it?
