fernando probaly had to say that petrov drove well because of being on the tv/radio and other types of media interview, but i hope that it was genuine, and lets be honest it wasnt fernando's fault as such he lost the championship

Well it was Fernando's fault. Even with the gifted 7 points he threw too many away. Those errors, the jump start, Silverstone, Monaco, Spa,there was at least one more, cant remember. And then not overtaking in the last race, though you could blame that on Tilke

yeah true he did make his mistakes of course in the ones you refered to there, but i was thinking just in abu dhabi, and yeah track design is at the hands of that tilke bloke !

Is it Alonso's fault? meh its too complex, it was ruddy brilliant for him to be where he is.

But the end of the day Alonso unsportsmanlike took his frustrations out on Petrov for in that heat of the moment he blamed a driver for doing what he is paid to do for costing him the title.

By the same way Alonso didn't give Kubcia the place back in Silverstone, Alonso is a different Alonso when under a lot of pressure in the Ferrari. He just wants to win, tbh, I don't think he's that fussed as to how it happens. his actions were wrong, from my analysis because from his perspective he just wanted to be ahead of Petrov, he didn't care about Petrov's right to race him. Of course the neutral feels differently.

He's a two time world champion, its about winning, when its this competitive you have to be ruthless and single mindedly focused, but it'll take some careful and well judged driver management to handle that and make sure it doesn't end up being a net negative. Personally, I reckon Alonso's actions this season would have been very different had Brawn and Todt still been at Ferrari, its clear to everyone when he "loses" it so to speak.

It's not only Alonso of course, there are plenty examples of drivers not even competing for championships showing this sort of "arrogance" and selfishness. Think Massa and Hekki don't have that.

He should apologise to Petrov, again his interview was pretty much an apology and it was at least clear Alonso accepted that Petrov was doing the right thing as a racing driver when defending his position.

Where did I say he was right to do it? I explained why I think he did it. Determination to win. When you don't win it's going to hit a person who cares more about winning than one who doesn't.

I don't know if he apologised personally or not, which is why I didn't bother commenting on it.

Notice: "he should apologise to Petrov", in what I wrote. That's not past tense.

I tend to agree with bud on this BUT why is/was Vettel carrying on so much about getting a personal pat on the back from Alonso, Vettel did not get one from his teammate! Personaly I would have appreciated a personal congrats and maybe that has already been given and how are we to know it has not happened by now? The immediate frustration felt by Alonso could have alot to do with it?

If we go to that, then why did Alguersuari allowed Webber past and not Massa. That should have been much more penalised from a sporstmanship side than a simple hand gesture!

Well if you were fighting for the WDC would you have done any differently, I don't think so . Incase you forgot I mentioned previously that Alonso could not get close enough to Petrov to make a clean pass and did not have an issue with that. I think your just being onesided because if it had been a McLaren driver imo you would see things differently, just my opinion once again, but the onesidedness just because it was a Ferrari and Alonso holds no water.

You would have a different story if it was Lewis who was told to move over for Jenson (what race was that?) when he and Button almost tangled but the TEAM told JB his brakes or tires were overheating or something to that sorts?
