Yeah I saw that one. And I thought "how does Matt think this is possible? " Until I looked at an aerial view of the track and saw it was like Circuite De La Sarthe - there is an option to race without the chicanes.

Todt just didn't didn't he? (Albeit indirectly).

Hopefully there won't be a clash with Bernie (cos its easier and morel likely if that doesn't happen), all it'll mean is the new circuits are actually good, they'll probably still be in springing up in the "new money" world IMO.

As long as we have Hermann Tilke designing race tracks and drivers getting punished for what would have been racing incidents in the past, overtaking will not happen!!!

Wouldnt Abu Dhabi encourage more overtaking by having huge run offs? That way the drivers know that if their maneuver goes wrong, they can get back on track.

Also, i agree that turn 4 should just be removed and allowed to become a straight. As we saw drivers can get very close there.

Robert Kubica: "The Abu Dhabi track has an amazing appearance and it comes across very well on television. The hotel that is lit up in different colours looks spectacular and you can tell that a lot of money has been invested in this facility. When I walked the track for the first time last year, I thought it would offer a lot of overtaking opportunities, but actually there was a lot less action in the race than I expected.
"Having lots of wide run-off areas definitely doesn’t help overtaking because it’s much easier to defend your position. You know that even if you miss your braking point, you won’t lose anything because you can cut the corner and stay ahead. Of course, you cannot do it every lap, but if there was a wall or a gravel trap instead, it might give the driver behind a better chance to overtake. But it can also work the other way, too, because the guy who is attacking can risk much more in the braking zones knowing that he has an escape path if the manoeuvre doesn’t work out.

We'll see next season if we can get through a whole season without inconsistent decisions from the stewards!
