Uh, no - I'm not feeling sad that we haven't had a fatality in years and sure hope it won't happen anytime soon.
Just imagine what would happen in this day and age of litigation: Many venues would just stop running F1 races because the (then) mandatory insurance policy would become unaffordable and the public at large would turn against races - this on top of critics that cite environmental reasons.

In amercia people still die, and the american racing fans havent turned against it, races in cart, nascar and indy havent just stopped because of deaths.

I didn't say that racing fans would turn against racing, I said the public at large.
Well those crazy Americans...
Anyway, I was more thinking of huge crashes that involved spectators as victims like in the old days.

come on, the american spectators just wait for the huge and massive crashes, they pay the tickets just to see that, but they're right! where's the excitment -in IRL, nascar, and the pickup series (i don't know the name) in those stupid oval circuits- if not the crashes!

I would appreciate it if you did not categorize ALL american motorsport's fan's/spectatator's into the small group that only watch racing for the, let's call it, the gore factor. Yes there is a percentage, albeit smaller than you think, that enjoy the crash's but they are not true racing fan's.
Yes the oval's can be very boring to an un-educated racing spectator but if one truelly take's the time to watch an oval race they will see that there is alot of drama and strategy involved.

i'm sorry, i wasn't referring to ALL the american motorsport's spectators, i was just saying that people who go in the ovals just wait for the crash...there are also peoples here in Europe that watched F1 just for the crashes...
but i know that in the USA there's a lot of people interested in champcar or, like you, in Formula 1, and all the other real motorsport series...
anyway, i tried to watch both an IRL and a NASCAR race on TV, while i was there, but it's impossible for me not to sleep after 5 mins!!

It's not necessarily just American fans who watch for crashes. I know there are people in Britain who watch the first lap of a Grand Prix, to see if there's a crash, and turn off if there isn't.

I don't know what the rest of Europe is like for this, although America is probably where this happens most. But, like Texas says, these people aren't true fans.
