"In truth I think we're rather dictating the driver transfer market at the moment," he told the Guardian newspaper.

"Until the second McLaren drive is sorted out I don't think you'll see much movement, so we're not really hurried."

Really? I don't think so. FA is dictating the drivers' market right now. Until he decides, not much movement will happen.

Alonso is dictating the Renault Market, I think what Ron says has a lot of truth -who wouldnt want to drive for them?

Renault, Toyota, Red Bull, BMW, whatever team has shown an interest in him - and the drivers or potential drivers for those teams are kinda blocked as to making decisions until FA announces where he goes.

I don't know who McLaren's PR man is, but he needs sacking.

Some of the crap they've came out with this season is beyond a joke.

As DD said, Alonso is running the show. If McLaren aren't careful they'll lose out big time on a driver they want.

This time last year, a lot more drivers would have wanted to drive for McLaren than do now. They're becoming annoying, and I say that as a McLaren fan, and they're only shooting themselves in the foot.

I think some drivers will see a move to McLaren as too much of a gamble. We have no idea how they'll perform next season.

Moving to McLaren has been a gamble for years. The only making it more of a gamble is the FIA deciding to play silly beggars with McLaren's car design.

Max Mosley: Can you tell what this part of the car does?

Pat Fry: Certainly. It's a standard front wing used for...

Mosley: Ha. I see. This is a Ferrari idea. They have a front wing that's the same general shape. Pending a vote by the WMSC you'll be prevented from partaking in this year's championships.

Now, whilst I'm not entirely in agreement with Whitmarsh's remarks, I don't think McLaren have been annoying all season.

Yup, you're right - not all season, but the better part of it.

Tripe. Take your anti-McLaren agenda away.

I got the perfect candidate. He will fit right in & the bonus is he is a Mc too.

He probably will have to loose the shoes though or they can cut a hole in the front of the car for them.

Yeh I know they are crap, but at least I am trying.

those teams have binding contracts those drivers wont want out unless they have a place to go,

this is where McLaren has the power!

DD just look past your McLaren grudge for once ;)

HK doesn't, Toyota has an open seat and is waiting for FA, Red Bull - who knows, swaps are possible and contracts are just paper. Same applies to BMW - if they really want FA and have a chance to get him, I'm sure they'd be able to accommodate him and somehow do a switcheroo with their current drivers...
