I saw that a couple of people have already picked their picks for next year's title. 2 out of 4 is not a bad statistic for me, but 3 out of 5 would be better.

I still cannot see Ferrari designing the best car, which is a shame, because Alonso really deserves a WDC, as long as it isn't tainted. Kubica could have a strong season next year if Renault have stepped up in development. Rosberg could step up because Mercedes have been working on their car for a while now. But if that was the case, maybe Schumacher would step up because he can help with the design and the car would likely suit him.

I think Sebastian Vettel can successfully defend his title. So my bid is on him. Rosberg and Schumacher would be just behind. :wavey:

Of course this is not my official pick because it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early, I like to pick my winners in the 3rd to 5th round. :wavey:

I'm pretty sure that Vettel will be in there with the Red Bull car again, and most likely the same suspects as this year. The tyres could potentially gonna throw someone else in the mix though - would be nice to see Kubica in a title fight, where i think he deserves to be. I couldn't really make any true predictions though, not yet.

Many mis-predicted this yr's title... with 1 race to go!!
so yeah... let's go silly.

This is just a guess (obviously :D:D:D ) but I agree with the tyre comment. It seems like so far the Pirelli's may not be as durable as the Bridgestone's so its whoever is in a fast car and can look after their tyres correctly. Therefore, I would say Alonso cause clearly from this year we have seen he is the outright number one.

But to throw a spanner in the mix, I am gonna say Rosberg. We know that when Brawn entered they had pretty much had started building the car halfway from the year before and this year they have had the same opportunity. So I expect Mercedes to be dynamite. The only thing going against him is that he hasn't won yet and we don't know how he handles pressure situations such as winning the WDC. So in that case I will say the Schu will win it. I think he knows how to win a WDC or two, or seven.

I'm going to predict Michael or Lewis or Alonso or Kubica or Vettel. :hehe:

Ross Brawn is going to tailor his new car all for Michael again, and Rosberg will struggle. I predict a Michael (Vettel) - Rosberg (Webber) partnership for 2011, very close but Michael having the edge, thanks to his aggressive nature. Rosberg's driving is as feminine as his looks (very quick though)

Redbull might drop back a bit, but I won't be surprised if they produce another gem again...they have Newey afterall, the God of aerodynamic innovation! And sadly, I don't think Webber has any chance anymore...its officially become Team Vettel at Redbull, for good reasons.

KERS is back, McLaren have significant experience with this. And they have a solid platform to build on from this season, they've taken different avenues which lost them direction but came very good towards the final part of the season.

Renault are the most improved team of 2010 for me, who knows what they can do next year. Either drop back bigtime, or give serious worries to the big team, something like Jordan in 1998 if I'm not mistaken?

Ferrari are in the same page as McLaren, the 2 big titans of F1, they will always be there, thereabouts no matter what.

It's great to have such an unpredictable season ahead, the first tests would be very interesting!

I'm throwing my support behind Vettel to defend his title. Red Bull started and finished the fastest and we have similar aero rules. Remember in early 2009 they weren't too far off brawns pace with a normal diffuser.

the KERS advantage might play to McLaren and Merc and to a lesser extent Ferrari, but with the whole fduct stuff this year the extra speed has been less of a factor than the RB6s superior downforce in all but a few races.

I'm also hoping for some good things from Merc, Brittney deserves to win a race finally. Also very optimistic about the cash injection for Sauber bringing some more racing goodness from Kobayashi.

i think it will be similar to this year with red bull, ferrari and mclaren plus maybe mercedes to join the party, im going to be slighty towards my man on this one but im saying lewis hamilton, because i think that with kers coming back, mercedes developed the best kers unit in 09 and they'll be supplying mclaren, so hopefully the car will be good, and if he can just learn to look at the bigger picture ( italy and singapore spring to mind), but just keep that attacking style thats brought you poles, race wins, fastest laps and the wdc! :)

Given how great and close this year was, who be willing to say what order teams will end up in, let alone who will win next years championships.

But I do think some teams will gain and some will loose from changes between '10 and '11. So, here are some of my thoughts on those changes.

1) I'm expecting Merc to be the really big improvers. They have the $ and the talent so that's an important start. They basically started focusing on '11 by mid-season.

2) McLaren had the best KERS system so they have the jump on the other teams there, that should give them a few points in both performance and reliability of their KERS.

3) Ferrari has two significant positive impacts for next year. They made big improvements in organization and I expect that and the impact of Pat Fry to be seen in next years car. The other is their existing experience with Pirelli - as a long term supplier to Ferrari in other areas, Ferrari will know what to expect from Pirelli and how they will work and react to different situations.

4) Red Bull - They still have Newey :) that's proven to be worth more than any change in the past so I don't know why it shouldn't be the same again. Will there be a post championship glory year for them or will they build? More importantly, the diffuser and aero effects advantage they have had is going to be lessened you'd imagine because of the simplification of these devices from next year.

i certainly agree that i think mercedes will be the big improvers over the winter, but i still think that mclaren, red bull and ferrari are going to be the boys to beat...

Has to be Alonso, RedBull just can't seem to get it together, with that speed advantage over the year, About a second at the start of the season going down to 4 tenths at the end they should have walked it, They should have had the drivers Champ and Constructers with 3 or 4 races to go. Jenson had a similar advantage for about HALF last year and he won with a race in hand.

I'm glad Alonso didn't win this year though, even though I lost a tenner at the bookies over it, It's the Drivers Championship, Not the Drivers and his Best Mate who helps him out Championship.

Using this past season as a reference point I would say that Lewis, Jenson, Alonso (possibly even Massa), Seb or Mark could win it. I'll have to wait until the first few races of 2011 to determine if Nico or Michael will be able to fight with the others but I hope their new car is better.

at the end of the day its car dependent.

As we've seen from 2009 you can't stick Alonso or Hamilton in a bad car and expect them to be amazing.

They can drag a car up the grid but they can't do it all the time.

I doubt we'll see a dominance from red bull again since the other teams will have caught up

And i suspect Mercedes and possibly Renault will be up there since they have given themselfs more development time.

Look at Ferrari and McLaren 2008 to 2009 they were fighting till the end in 2008 were as RBR and Brawn (Honda) stopped and concentrated on 2009 and it paid dividends.
