Alonso also has that virtually untouched engine at his disposal for the race.

Is that sarcastic? He's using his Monza engine - hardly 'untouched'!

The commentation on SPEED mentioned something about him having an engine with only practice or qualifying miles on it, maybe I am wrong?

They were probably referring to the Bahrain qualifying unit - quite alot of news articles have been mentioning this. However, the fact is that the Bahrain qualifying unit expired way back in China, and Alonso is using an engine that already did Interlagos and Monza. Webber is using an engine that did Singapore and Suzuka. Vettel is using an engine that did Suzuka only.

Alonso's Bahrain qualy engine could not be reused until Abu Dhabi:

2010 F1 SR, 28.4.e:
e) If an engine is changed in accordance with Article 34.1 the engine which was replaced may not be used during any future qualifying session or race with the exception of the last Event of the Championship.

He had the others all beat but I agree that he beat himself it was all in his hands no need to pit what so ever with Vettel 1st. 4th place would of still done it

I agree, as long as Alonso was able to beat Petrov's pace (assuming Webber who had pitted would be held up behind him) Alonso only needed to to pit when those ahead of him did so. But Ferrari choose to cover of Webber, they assumed the soft tyres would go off and the leaders would not get out in Front of Rosberg, turned out to be a bad call.

To go back to the topic title: he beat himself.

Im sure he did that in his single years but he has a wife now.

Why change a habit? :hehe:

Congrats to RB and Seb. Well done and, to be fair the RB6 was the best car this year.

Thanks to my team for putting up a great effort and winning five races this year. I think they did a great job to keep us in it right up to the last race. To improve as much as they did from '09 to '10 was a fantastic effort and I'm sure it's a platform that will see us very competitive next year.

Felt for Mark, but he should also be pleased with his efforts in '10

Just can't wait for next year!!

So the final answer of the thread has to be...To beat Fernando in 2010....bring him in early!!! :drink:

Wait - but it worked for him at Singapore '08? Although his Brazillian team mate crashed into a wall. I think there must've been an issue with Massa's radio. :wavey:

Must've been. :hehe:

I think the literal answer to the thread title is "To beat Fernando in 2010.... drive an RB6". :P

You gotta admit it's pretty impressive that him and Hamilton were able to stay right in the thick of the title fight for so long anyway. I do wonder what it would have been like if those two or Kubica had that Red Bull in their hands.
