What a dissapointing race! Had it not been the last race of the season which ultimetly decided the champion it would have been one of the most boring races of the season.
There was hardly any overtaking and hardly any overtaking chances. With the World title on the line i could not believe there wansnt any real racing going on. Cars just followed each other around the track all on the racing line, once all the pitt stops were done....
Perhaps Abu Dhabi isnt the best place to host the final race of a season if the layout doesnt encourage overtaking....

Well not an exciting race, but definitely had me on the edge of my seat. Amazing victory for Vettel and Redbull. I like that the three most recent world champs were on the podium together - it was a nice touch. Vettel has been the best driver all year. He had some struggles in the middle of the season, but he has been the class of the year.

I loved watching Petrov race Alonso. I was waiting for Alonso to force him into a mistake, but the young Russian really held his own. Very impressed by him and I hope he stays in F1. I haven't thought that way for much of the year where he was making sure that Bernt Mylander stayed employed... But he has also shown some talent (this isn't the first time this year I have thought he did a good job, but the others don't come to mind right now). Like one of the BBC commentators said, Horner will be sending a case of bubbly to the Renault drivers for their help today. hehehe.

Alonso... What can I say. He let the red mist come down once again, and once again it killed his chances. His gesturing at the end was completely uncalled for and definitely not the sort of attitude needed from the WDC. Imagine being Petrov, a rookie and being dressed down like that from a two-time world champion, even though he did nothing wrong. Sure Alonso didn't whine about it in the post race press conference, but he didnt apologize for it either.

Happy to see that Michael was fine after his crash. So sad that it happened, but there was so much traffic there was nowhere to go on the track. Glad to see him and the Liuzzi chatting afterwards. Showed that both were okay.

Hamilton and Button drove good races today. It was nice to see the McLaren back on form. Hamilton gets on my nerves sometimes like today with the bitching on the radio, but at other times, I think he is great for it (like in Korea - "lets get racing").

Abu Dhabi is a pretty good circuit, but they need to make some changes. Having so many chicanes in the way means that there are no drastic FAST-SLOW-FAST corners on the circuit which really generate overtaking chances.

Glad to see Seb as the Champion. But sad that this season is over. 2010 was a great year for Formula One. I am sure Bernie is out contracting with the weather gods for next season to make sure that they deliver like they did this season.

I leave you with the closing to the BBC telecast today which I thought was very good. Made me all emotional with Seb's win and the end of the season.

And theoretically Webber overtook Algeursuari. hahaha. Here I was thinking, oh no - Webber can't get past Alonso! Alonso is World Champion! But then it dawned on everybody that Petrov and Rosberg were in front. And my turned to .

It was a very disappointing race for Webber. And it is a real disappointment for Australian Motorsport in general. But Webber is a stubborn little bugger and won't give up on a WDC that easily.

Yeah, so congrats to Vettel. You drove like an idiot for quite a large portion of the season, and I really don't like you. But, you have amazing talent and I respect that. So

Though it was really the Ferrari strategists, Alonso did what he needed to do. But simply, if he can drive like he did in the last 5 races for the entire season, awesome.

I've started to mellow a bit on the strategy though, they presumed the soft tyres would drop of quickly, but it really should've been apparent that Webber would be held up in traffic so he wouldn't start gaining time on Alonso, and all they needed to do was cover of Vettel's pit-stop. It was deceptively simple, hold station dammit.

Overall the race was quite dull though, even Kobayashi didn't cheer me up.

Oh well. Big Azza was right all along. Webber didn't make it this evening. Congratulations to Vettel and his Finger. As much as I didn't like it, I couldn't help but smile when Vettel was crying in the car. In the end, it's a deserved title.

Oh what can I say!? How can I tell everyone how I feel! "Do you know how this feels?" WUHAHAHAHA! I just want to rip my brains out of my skull and watch it just do somersaults and bounce of the walls.. and - no that actually is disgusting.

I seem to be getting good at picking World Champions. I supported Hamilton in 2007/2008 and Vettel in 2009/2010. So on this note my prediction for the 2012 Title is - Sebastian Vettel!

Now - whilst Vettel drove a superb race I must say Kubica, Petrov, Alguersuari, they all drove great races. I'm very disappointed in Webber. Ferrari made a stupid call. And Hamilton complaining about his tires and saying he had to pit, but later setting the fastest lap made him look a bit silly. He has done that 3 times this season, that I can think of.

Alguersuari drove the best race of his life in my opinion. And he deserves to be there next season. If not we could see him in the sister team. Petrov may have just earned his keep although a move to Virgin looks on the cards. Kobayashi was disappointing. Poor tire strategy for him in my opinion, to have to finish the race on primes rather than do his usual close to a race on the softs.

We thought Schumacher was going to die when Luzzi nearly ran over his head.

Oh well if Vettel is not on for the title next year, I'm all for Hamilton getting it. We''ll see.

Glad you made me remember I have one reason to smile at least! Rosberg, Petrov and Alguersuari all proved their strategy of pitting with the safety car was the best one. But to make it work, they had to overtake some cars - Rosberg in particular got to a very good position on overtakes alone, passing car that hadn't pitted yet. That was something Alonso and Webber couldn't do today. Jaime did an excellent job, but let's not forget that behind him was Massa, which by itself slims his chances of being overtaken but it was really wonderful, he was the only car not from the top 5 teams and not from the top 11 qualifiers (10 best if you discount Schumacher whose race didn't last very long) finishing in the points. Well deserved after three races just missing out. Bring in the Red Bull!

But to me, the "performance of the day" award goes to Kubica. With TONS of cars trying the "let's hold on to these tyres and pit super late" strategy, he was the only one to make it work, running as high as 2nd. Kobayashi pits and is buried, Hulkenberg the same, Buemi the same, Sutil the same, Kubica manages to stay 5th. Incredible drive, proving yet again that he is the driver of the season. If this man isn't in a front-running, race-winner car soon, then everyone will keep missing out on so much talent.

And talking about talent, Heidfeld was pulling fastest laps. On a Sauber. Which was probably running an undead engine. Why did he ever fall out of a seat is something I'll never understand.

FIRST OF ALL THIS IS MY 1000TH POST
After 2 and a half long years, where I started off as a Hamilton troll (called hammy08) after the Monaco GP '08. But from the very start Vettel was 2nd favourite for his exceptional drive in that race. I believe I have always been truthful, and tried my best to remain free of bias. I also was not very popular after expressing my religious views on evolution threads. But I for one am entitled to an opinion, and should not be discredited for that. I've spent the last 12 months or so trying avoid conflict. But after the Turkish GP I once again became a forum troll.

Special thanks to AKR, whom I directed my first reply at for her bitter hate of Hamilton, tex, bud - we started off well - then had arguments, and maybe are starting to agree with each other again (thanks for the sigs too ), Gaz for never agreeing with me so my heated responses at you really clocked up my post count, Stephen and DD. Also thanks to Bernie, and all these great drivers, particularly Hamilton and Vettel. Thanks also to the crap drivers who I tirelessly defended - like Piquet.


Now - Kubica was absolutely exceptional. He really is a great driver - but I have a feeling that Renault will have a very competitive car next year and Kubica will be rightfully winning races. It's funny - I never think of Heidfeld ever getting a drive just because I simply do not notice him whenever he drives. Both drivers were exceptional at BMW back in the days.

Petrov needs to be neutered. So hopefully he gets a drive next year.
