A few of our local attorneys and judges play ALOT and I just recently found out that this 'hole in the wall' town has what they deem as a very decent course for this area. Guess I should stop spending money of guns/ammo/police gear and consider a decent set of clubs. I thoroughly enjoy golf, even watch it on TV sometimes, and surprised a few friends in the past at local driving/putting ranges.

I wonder if you deliberately play up to the European stereotype of a gun-toting, violent, conservative, small minded american... Whatever it is, it's fricking terrifying.

Me thinks you think too much or is it just another case of feeling insufficient . So what did you do today other than feeling more superior than other's? Maybe for the sake of your sanity you will add me to your 'foes' list, one can only hope right?

It would spiral out of control.

1st the mob/mafia/gangs would carry them more often and not so hidden, which means the police would start to carry them on and off duty for protection.

Armed Forces would then follow suit for protection against terrorist threats.

rich buisness men would then feel the need to show they are being protected so would start getting armed body guards. this would then filter down to middle classes who would want to keep up with the jones, and then we would end up with them being cheap enough for the working class' to then want the right to defend themselves.

No, but I have a problem with guns being a normal part of daily life. People are, generally speaking, hotheaded, emotional, irrational morons. I don't want anyone to have within their reach the means of wiping out another person's life with the pull of a trigger. A broken nose is inconvenient and painful, but it will heal. A bullet in the brain is far more irrevocable. Keeping guns out of the hands of normal people enormously reduces the opportunity for minor disagreements and altercations to turn into tragedies. And I don't think the 'home defence' argument is strong enough to counterbalance the simple argument that we are all safer when guns are only in the hands of the military and specialist police forces.

I did not say that letting people have guns was right. Just that if they where allowed then most people would in the end

Canada has a higher per capita number of gun owners yet it has a dramatically lower number of gun crimes/murders.

I have nothing against someone owning a gun, however, owning a gun obviously doesn't diminish anyone's level of a$$holiness. I have quite a lot again some states allowing the sale of guns that should only be used by the military. Definding yourself and your family doesn't require a 50mm cannon.

I thoroughly enjoy the 'respect' I get when I walk into someplace/anyplace being allowed to openly display my pistol and badge and recieve alot more courteuous interaction from others. I agree with you WB that ones does not need a .50 caliber but if thats what they what more power to them., gotta love America !

I realize that everyone has there own beliefs about such things and I try not to enforce my beliefs or constitutional rights against or upon them. It just gets redundant and annoying when others, non-US citizens, ceaselessly strive to frown upon the rights and privileges of Americans just to make themselves feel superior. Why do you think my ancestors left, tired of being told what they can and cannot have.

Anyway before we get even more off-topic whats for lunch? Think I'll have some fish with moms homemade tartar sauce, if I could get Juliet P to cook and serve I would be quite content .

That makes my point exactly. Respect that is garnered by a gun and authority is not genuine respect. Real respect is that which is earned and offered voluntarily.

And I think the puritans who founded America would be rolling in their graves at your implication that they left because they weren't allowed to murder trespassers!!
