Lewis doesnt bitch about tyres and the Fduct. he's not so stupid as to waste his time on that in a race. He's questioning and giving back information. I think the true feedback will come at a debrief not when you're driving by the seat of your pants, at that point you need to give and receive vital information. Who sets the car up best? I think that varies with the track. Leiws tends to drive round problems. Jens tends to try to preguess them.

Lewis Hamilton complained about having no grip on a few occasions; and that's what we heard on the TV coverage, how many other times did he radio back to say the same? I respectfully disagree; Lewis was moaning for moaning's sake; the team can't do much while he is out on the track; say it once and get on with what he is paid millions to do; drive a F1 car to it's limits! What good is feedback in the after race debrief? that feedback is needed during FP1 and FP2 to set up the car for Q and race sessions. Discussing setup after the fact is useless as it'll be another year before racing on that track again and more than likely the conditions will be different; also different regs and tyres.

I suppose that if Alonso had done those communications, it wouldn't be whining; it would be Fernando showing his highly-tuned senses to detect stuff with the car that not even telemetry can.

:hehe:

Never mind, Fernando doesn't whine--he just waves his hands uselessly at every driver he can't overtake.

Whining, moaning, bitching, all the same thing, these guys are supposed to be professional racing drivers; why can't they act like that? voicing the same complaint over and over won't fix the problem, adapt and drive the car instead of wasting airwaves, that goes for any driver on the grid!

Im all for that. Ban radios and let them get on with it. Thing is radios are there, and so they are used to inform the team/driver of the state of play . Be pretty stupid not to inform the team of a problem when you have the means to do so. Lewis generally does drive around problems, its one of his strengths.

They could simply use pit boards (which still exist despite being redundant) like they used to in the past; it'll be hard to implement team orders during the race without radios!

I still scratch my head about pit boards. I mean, why use 'em if you got radio?
#224263
Probably just standard procedure. Sometimes they might radio in "pitwall" for the driver to see the boards displayed. "Box" for a pitstop. Normally this is showing the times of the driver in front/behind. Though I believe they should have this information on their steering wheel? Or are our racing games more advanced than the actual sport itself. :D

Its not the same as repeating a message to your team twice about lack of grip and then complaining that the F-Duct isnt working. I mean if the F-Duct wasnt working wouldnt the engineer tell him so that he doesnt waste precious downforce by trying to use it?

I think the F-Duct was working fine, just that the car wasn't fast enough even with the F-Duct, the McLaren have slipped backward on outright speed in recent races!

Relative to Ferrari's progress against the Reb Bull dominance, McLaren have been put to shame the last handful of races. They're lucky to finish with a lead against Ferrari in the WCC because they certainly didn't earn it.

But then again, Ferrari have been on a massive development spree with their diffuser while Mclaren havnt had anything major for a while though they have said to be bringing upgrades to almost every track.

its a good point made, ferrari had made quite big improvements with their updates where as mclaren have struggled sadly!

And so to come full circle we have the answer as to why the mclaren drivers (Jens did it too after the race) questioned aspescts of the car. A genuine disbelief at being so far off the pace.

 The ever changing tides of F1.

So anyway Ima thunkin we won't see Lewis at Ferrari for atleast a few more years. Whitmarsh imho is doing a fantastic job, I like his demeanor aswell, so Lewis is fine where he is. I would like to see Lewis win atleast one more WDC with McLaren before he consider's a change.
