So imo, the new points system can't do anything to make drivers push more for wins, at least, being F1 how it is.

I disagree; if a driver settles for three second places instead of challenging for the lead; he will be almost one race win behind without the other driver finishing in the cheap seats. That's the incentive; especially with the drivers/teams being closer this year, with the exception of the refuelling ban, the points system is the only real change!

The problem and what I mean is they CAN'T push for wins more than they always do.

The new system just looks different because they use higher numbers, but, in reality it is the percentage difference that counts. Under the old system, 2nd was worth 80% of a win, now its worth 72%. not that much of a change really, so pretty much a pointless exercise.

For me the best system was 1991. There 2nd was only worth 60% of a win. What's more only the first 6 got points, which made points more meaningful in my opinion.
1991 was like this:-
1st 10
2nd 6
3rd 4
4th 3
5th 2
6th 1

FOM should not use points to work out how to dish out the share teams share of the revenues.

The new points system is to make driver hunt for the race win but the new regulation does not support it. No refueling makes drivers stick to only 1 strategy of 1 mandatory stop and then maintaining the position until the end of race. All need to conserve..., gearbox, tire and even fuel also couldn’t keep u to the finish line if u push it a little much more..
