If Webber is asked to move over for Vettel should Alonso falter, I believe he will walk away from RB and maybe even F1!

I think I would take the crown and have the wrath of the team

So would I!! But isnt he most lkely scenarin that Vettel hAs to move for Webber?

Aye, there's the rub. Vettel knows that if RBR had issued team orders earlier in the season, he likely would have cinched the WDC at Suzuka. So will Seb feel so benevolently disposed toward RBR and Webber (for whom he clearly has no love) that he will abide by Newey's "hopes" and surrender a certain win?

I doubt it.

...The prestige doesn't only apply to the driver, but to the team aswell. Just look at Ferrari a decade ago. No one really cared when they won the WCC in 1999, the one they wanted was the WDC.

Just so.

A manufacturer might paint a wreath bearing the year of the win on its street cars to commemorate a WDC but I don't think that much boosts sales. A cardboard stand-up on the dealer's showroom floor of a jubilant Lewis Hamilton hoisting his WDC trophy, OTOH, ....

But if the most important crown is the divers one...

In that case the world drivers title should go to Felipe Massa for that spectacular dive he performed at the German GP ;):P:twisted:

Sorry couldn't resist!

Actually, the cruelest irony might be if Vettel did slow to let Webber pass. Then Vettel -- who almost certainly will win some future WDC -- could gloat for all eternity that Webber only ever won WDC because he -- Vettel -- had let him.

TadamTum. Thank you ladies and gentlemen, he'll be performing here all week.

Red Bull will qualify 1-2 and will finish 1-2 unless something happens to them. The suggestions that Webber would be battling for 5th, or that Vettel finishes behind the McLarens are wishful thinking... I doubt you guys are serious anyway. :hehe:

I have no faith in Webber actually winning a race on his own accord. I expect Vettel to give it to him, just as he's given 2 other victories to Webber so far this year. Vettel does not deserve this. His luck has cost him 4 other victories so far this year. I won't mention that again because I know that is just part of Grand Prix racing. Other drivers can be unlucky too.

But it's interesting when you look at the Driver's Championship Table on Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Formula_One_season. Vettel's line is mostly written in bold for all his pole positions. In races where he retires or has a problem, Webber or Alonso have done well.

My season as Vettel fan has been disappointing. In my opinion he looked certain to win at Bahrain, Turkey, Britain, German, Hungary, and Korea. That's 6 races which I thought he was on the win for. So he could actually be on 10 wins. So Webber should not get all cocky, because he clearly performed like a number 2 driver. Vettel has always been better - he's just had rotten luck.

The teams decision at Silverstone was quite clear. It was THEIR wing and they gave it to the driver who was higher placed in the championship at the time. Helmut Marko is a douche and I don't see why you all listened to him after Turkey. Last I checked he had no official role within the team.

Vettel is intelligent and is a team driver. He knows what to do at the next race. When he makes the decision to let Webber pass, give him credit for it. But Vettel deserves nothing more than to win the Championship this year.

Next week I can see nothing other than a Red Bull driver lifting the trophy. The team do not need to say anything about this championship. They've already won theirs. They are leaving it to the driver's to decide because it is a driver's championship.

How fitting would it be that Vettel chooses not to give it to Webber. Webber has done nothing for Vettel all season except winge and complain. He is a selfish driver who cares nothing about the team, just himself. If Vettel had to support Webber, he would do it with all his heart - for his team. Webber would never think of helping Vettel out.

So I do hope he pisses off and we get a great team player at Red Bull next year.

Well if Ferrari hadn't used team orders in Germany Alonso would only be 1 point up on Webber. They have robbed us fans of an even more exciting final race as Lewis would be realistically in contention with Alonso,Webber and Vettel all going flat out to beat each other! As it is Alonso doesn't have to win, take his gifted 7 points away he would! As far as I'm concerned the only worthy winner will be a Redbull driver!

I don't think what Horner says is wrong, it is common sense rather than anything.

Team orders are team orders, but if Vettel leads, Webber is second and Alonso third, Vettel allowing Webber to pass would not be precisely team orders, would be a "let's not give the rival the driver championship just because I want to be first all the time" thought by Vettel.

So, even if I support Alonso, if the mention condition applies and Vettel lets Webber pass, I will not only understand it, I will applaud it, and I won't consider that a team order, like I said at the beginning, it's common sense.

Red Bull Racing already made clear they wouldn't issue team orders and I have already taken their word for that when they allowed Vettel to win last race, now the championship is at stake and there is no need playing hypocrite games. They have to do everything in their hands (within the regulations) to secure both titles and Webber is their man if they are in the mentioned positions before the end of the race. Plain and simple.

Giving orders at the end of the season when u know mathematically the come-out result is something u can’t blame if it’s done n what a looser if not doing it just because of dignity. Team orders that were talking about is what is done in the middle of season just because of favoring a driver to another..

rotten luck or over driving the car causing brake failures and engine blows, or wrecking himself with dangerous passes

i could just imagine vettel not moving over just to spite webber and let alonso win the WDC , if thats the case hes a real team player is he ????

So I do hope he pisses off and we get a great team player at Red Bull next year.

a better team player than webber, ull be hard pressed to find that
