Interesting, the psychological aspect of it all, last race, all on the table... everyone is willing to look the other way. The only real difference is that it's much easier to justify Vettel moving over for Webber out of sportsmanship than it is to come to the same conclusion for Massa and Alonso.

The difference is that (I assume) there will be no radio communication between the drivers and engineers, both drivers know the score and will act accordingly for the best possible result. If Massa moved over for Alonso in this race it wouldn't bother me in the slightest, the fact it happened in the 11th race of the season is another matter!

I'm sure there will be a coded message agreed upon, something super discreet like; "The light is dying out, you know what we are working for". And then what do you know? Vettel messes up, Webber goes through and the championship is decided

If/when the switch happens; it'd be funny if once Webber is leading with one lap remaining, Alonso's engine goes kaput and Vettel will be kicking himself! :hehe:

What's the bet that if it is Vettel 1, Webber 2 and Alonso 3 that we will hear Alonso on the radio saying he's lost a gear, down on power and he has no grip, he might even run wide on a few corners.....

The ultimate in mind games... should Red Bull bite, I would think Horner wouldn't change alter his plan (to let Webber win?) until Alonso started actually dropping places!

And if Alonso runs off a few corners, slows and drops 1 place .... I wonder what Seb would do if the coded message came out then ...
and if Seb did cede, what if Alonso drops another place? Will Webber give the place back? I'd love to see the camera's on them then

There's certainly lots of different connotations for Abu Dhabi; one that no-one has brought up is that Mark Webber will be in the lead on merit, I can not see Webber moving over for anyone, least of all Sebastian Vettel! If Webber is asked to move over for Vettel should Alonso falter, I believe he will walk away from RB and maybe even F1!

We definitely agree on that one

That's a plan! You should write to Fernando.

I'd laugh my head of it we heard Fernando shouting about a reliability issue, unless it ends up being real that is.

If Vettel is leading will Horner ask him to pull a Piquet? :hehe:

Not really, Webber already did that in Korea!:P:twisted: ..And it wouldn't benefit Red Bull at all; as Webber can not win the title with Alonso in second!

I think Red Bull don't give a sh!t if Vettel or Webber will win or lose the WDC.
The team has already got the WCC and is on F1 more for Marketing than for results.

Bruno...with the absolute greatest of respect to you, I think you are very, very wrong. There isn't a Team in Formula 1 that would have that attitude.

The money is in the WCC. The prestige is in the WDC.

Which is why team mates should all be given a fair crack. All the talk about 'the team comes first' can be sorted in the WCC.
To answer the question. to the thread...It apears not at the moment or else they would have switched drives last weekend. Once Vettel can no longer win but could switch place to help Webber...different thing.

The prestige doesn't only apply to the driver, but to the team aswell. Just look at Ferrari a decade ago. No one really cared when they won the WCC in 1999, the one they wanted was the WDC.

Oh I absolutely agree. To me the drivers is way the most important crown. And yes it does reflect on the team. But if the most important crown is the divers one, then team orders should not interfere with it.It should be down to the drivers.

I think I would take the crown and have the wrath of the team

Ah! And we complete the vicious circle! EVERYONE agrees it SHOULD be down to the driver, but its not the case, and we should really just accept that team orders are an integral part of F1 that cannot be moderated. The rule is stupid and only leads to more trouble, ban it, and if your second driver isnt good enough to compliment your first (Massa Alonso) then its tough, that itself is an incentive to have two top drivers, as you need to in order to have a chance of actually performing TITLE DECIDING team orders. Please say someone gets what i mean, its a very simple fix, Kimi was easily able to help Massa in 2008 and Massa was easily able to help Kimi in 07, when one of your drivers cant qualify high, thats one less chance of a wdc not to mention constructors AND the option to move one over in a race etc, cause they just cant keep up.
