What a hypocrite. After a season's worth of proclaiming RBR's racing tactics were pure as the driven snow, now Adrian Newey says:

"We would honestly like to win both (titles) if we possibly could, and if we're in a position where we can win the drivers', that is what we must do now.

"Ultimately, if one of the drivers is out if it, then I hope he would be magnanimous enough to help the other." (emphasis added)

So il capo di tutti capitells the press he hopes team orders will be employed (by Vettel), he just doesn't want his hands sullied by the ordering.

If Red Bulls are Vettel first and Webber 2nd in the last race with Alonso 3rd, come the final part of the race where it is clear that Alonso will get 3rd meaning that Vettel cannot win the title, they will swap places which will allow Webber to become World Champion. If Red Bull do not do this, then they will throw away the drivers title and gift it to Alonso/Ferrari and basically would have to be the biggest idiots I would have ever of seen in F1 history. I know McLaren would swap places for sure and you know what, Red Bull are no different, nor stupid. They will do the swap if it needs to be done.

Well if you remember it was Newey who decided to give the front wing to Vettel over Webber in Silverstone. (i think it should be called Silvergate )

The team has already got the WCC and is on F1 more for Marketing than for results.
And this behaviour throughtout the year has created a very good marketing for the company.
Remember: Dietrich Mateschitz doesn't make money on F1...he makes money by selling little sharp cans world wide.

Mateschitz said something about their philosophy is not to manipulate anything.... but that is BS. Also, he is not the team pricipal so its not his decision
There is no way the sporting director/principal wont do whatever its in their hands to claim both titles.

Yes, they will give BOTH the drivers their fair chance at the title. They have to. And its reasonable. But not figuring out a way to be able to claim both titles through some kind of team work would be stupid.

BUT they have to lay some foundations in case they lose the WDC, to have the moral high ground and add credit to themselves.
Not that they dont deserve the credit, but credit is meaningless when someone else has the shiny trophy and #1 car next yr.

Bruno...with the absolute greatest of respect to you, I think you are very, very wrong. There isn't a Team in Formula 1 that would have that attitude.

Hmm, I actually agree with you AKR; wonders will never cease. Red Bull may have won the constructors championship and the cash that comes with that for next season but the real prestige is winning the drivers title and having the "1" on the car as well as prime position in the pitlane the next season (is that still in effect?).

As for team orders, they are BANNED; Red Bull couldn't possibly order either driver to do anything; but should Vettel move aside for his team mate, that's just courtesy!

The difference is that (I assume) there will be no radio communication between the drivers and engineers, both drivers know the score and will act accordingly for the best possible result. If Massa moved over for Alonso in this race it wouldn't bother me in the slightest, the fact it happened in the 11th race of the season is another matter!

My point exactly, sportsmanship is the kernel in the stark difference between the two points of view.

In the end, the team order rule is a matter of FORM, not SUBSTANCE.

Red Bull will keep on with their claims... because they still dont even know if they will even need team orders..... so why go on an admit they would use them before they have to??? Keeps them "above the rest" until the moment of truth comes.

They'll use them if they need it, then let the press and fans do the justifying afterwards. By that time, they'd have 2 big fat trophies. And will be able to say: ahh we lost because Ferrari used team orders... or we used team orders because Ferrari used them. In both cases they win the moral battle. Which will mean a heck of a lot for about a week....haha

Next yr it'll be the red car with the #1 badge Then, in 50 yrs... It'll be Fernando's trophy to show his grandkids
