I bet even Bernie secretly would love to see Max removed as FIA President.

Now that every man, woman and either their cat, dog or whatever seem to agree Max should go, who should replace him? :)

My choice is Don because he could just say,

Believe me Schmi, I don't mind being "put down"... as long it doesn't involve a trip to the vet's office.

Is that what he'll be saying to Alonso when he complains his new team - wherever he goes - aren't giving him a jam doughnut for breakfast?

A new departure in F1. Teams are aligned simply on a national basis, like every other sport. English, Spanish, German, Italian, US, Australian, Finnish, Brazilian, French, Japanese, etc. As new nations wish to join they enter a Second Division. The top two new teams at the end of the season win promotion into the First Division. The bottom two teams in the First Division are demoted. Management, engineering, development, etc, must be of the relevant nationality.

This would promote investment and development and there are plenty of budding candidates as far as drivers are concerned in the lower echelons of the sport. The laurels would rest with a national team.

Isnt this what A1 is? I was well excited when it started and went to the first one at Brands, It was bril and could have really taken off but it wasnt prompoted on a regularTV channel and it was hard to stay in touch.

How about a thread on the Pitfalls of Making Quince Jelly...

"First shoot at least half dozen quinces. When the quinces have been skinned, gutted, boned and dismembered, place them in a 52 gallon blender, on high, until they have been reduced to a bloody pulp..."

How did you guess? That's my fav jelly and it's pretty hard to come by here in the US...

No I think the Hoff is the right man for the job.
He has the track record.

I sure hope it'll never come to that. Even more nationalistic drum beats? And so for what country would Mercedes-McLaren sign up? Or BMW-Sauber? Or STR?

And like every other sport? What about tennis? There you find all kinds of combos for the double matches. Or bicycling?

Bad idea, we already have A1GP for this...

Good point DD we hear this drum beat too often around here , I am happy it's not just me that see's it.

But how dare you bring up a point that again dispels the supposedly British superiority/integrity assumption around here.
Shame on you.

oh my god this way sucks...can you see the McL demoted in GP2?? nah.....

Well I can understand that the Itallian team would be challenged to find two drivers Certom, but can you give a cogent reason for your opposition other than the rather nebulous... "it sucks".

well, every other team will be challenged to find two drivers except for england,(or GB, orUK...as you want) germany, spain and few more... but you must revolutionize the whole motorsport world, not just F1...if your idea took place, what would GP2, WSR, and the other minor series become??
and if F1 has high costs...imagine 3 or more championships with its car...so, if you want to low the costs you'll have to bring to all the same car, otherwise there will always be advantages for the biggest teams...
what would be called F1?! that's why i think that this idea sucks...my small, insignificant opinion...

Countries and nationalism already play a large part in F1, no point in extending that with national teams. Imagine, you can only sign drivers of the same nationality as the team, this would mean talent going elsewhere because they couldn't get into F1 because of their passport. Nonsense.
