hehe you a forum bot now?

Anyway... just thought i'd give some reference points as to how people go about comparing and talking about 'same level as'.....

LOVE, how the "non" mclaren-most-likely-ferrari/alonso-fans can give give give all day like they're being paid for it, and the moment the tables turn the wimps play the " its only the hamilton fans that do it" card. WE, yes, thats WE are all as bad as each other in derailing threads, although my personaly opinion is that people should express what they want and let the thread take a natural course, and we are all as bad each other at name dropping our favourite drivers in threads, you cant just say its hamilton being mentioned when he doesnt need to be, cause all i see in hamilton based threads are alonso can do it etter or kubica can do it better, and all i see in alonso threads is hamilton can do it better or, lets put kubica in a ferrari and see him smash alonso. im only complaining at those i labelled in my first sentence cause it seems bar no exception they have all decided to toe the same line in an attempt to try and show some sort of moral high groundor something. Everyone i can see on my post feed with a ferrari.alonso avatar has said the same thing. Big kudos to F1ea for admitting alonso isnt the best overtaker or starter, which he probably isnt, and not saying yeah but hamilton cant do it either, seriously man big high five for you. all the top drivers have flaws and weaknesses, like hamilton makes stupid mistakes more then anyone, and alonso, well...doesnt. at all. Seriously i think we should pilot a scheme in which for three races no thread or post can sho support or praise for your favourite driver and only to others. Youll find the comaraderie (spelling?) and nature of conversation wil take a much more pleasurable (sounds kinky) tone.

Chill Robert, it was just to haul hammer down a peg or two. Since he wouldn't shut up about Hamilton (on a unrelated thread) despite being told to by the mods,

sorry that i got angry but that sort of thing makes me annoyed and i apologise if i did bring lewis into this thread :( to save arguments among fellow forumers lets get back to the original point :)

cause he can do it. And very well.

Evidence to the contrary! Any driver can do it. Alonso's overtaking is nothing special, nor is his positioning of his car during his overtakes, or race starts. Thats his biggest flaw well aside from his megalomaniacism. :hehe:

From the list of guys that you could say are 'not very good at overtaking'. Definitely Alonso is not one of them. The starts... hmm not that great. But dont think you will expect Alonso to look hand-tied or boink an overtake he should be able to make. Maybe in the vein of Heidfeld... I think NH is quite capable, but you dont hear him much because he's hardly pulling over eager moves... but when he has to do it... he'll pull it through.

Maybe when people compare Alonso to Senna is more likely due to megalomaniacism :hehe:
Senna was super focused, self-absorbed... obssessive... Alonso is like this. You could say Kimi, Barrichello and some others aren't...... so this is probably the point of comparison people see.

By the way: I dont think Alonso is on the same level as Senna.
Senna, Fangio, G. Villeneuve, Schumacher, maybe Prost and Jackie stewart and some others.... : are legendary!
Alonso, Niki Lauda, Hakkinen, Piquet and some others... : are greats.

:rofl: Your inclusions and omissions speak volumes. Gotta agree with Gilles though!

Tex the first person to mention Hamilton on this thread was a Ferrari Fan.

Unless Robert12010 has suddenly become a Ferrari fan then your wrong.

nope he said "Lewis" and the context was about Senna somthing a Ferrari fan had brought up.

A Ferrari fan dragged this thread towards the usual Hamilton crap.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

How about this to settle the argument; let's put Alonso in Senna's McLaren and get him to do a hot lap around say Imola and see how close he comes to beating Senna's time from say 1992 in qualifying trim? If he can beat Senna in the same car as he drove in the early 90s; I will accept that Alonso is "as good" as Senna!

If your implying it was me then I must have indirectly done it by mentioning McLaren. If that is the case then god help us all! :hammer:

That is actually a pretty cool idea, only problem is Imola is totally different now.

It doesn't matter who mentioned it; can we leave it now and get back to the topic? if you want to discuss it further, take it to PM, OK?

I just pulled a track out of my head; maybe Suzuka, I don't believe that has changed has it?

Why would McLaren give their car to Alonso so he can attempt to BEAT a legendary race driver who drove for Mclaren. Makes no sense to me. And Alonso would never have driven a car of that generation before so you wouldnt expect him to be as fast.

That's the point I'm making; comparing Senna to Alonso is like comparing chalk to cheese; two very different cars, driving a F1 car today is easy compared to cars from the generation of Senna, Prost and Mansell. I think it's a fair test; give Alonso a week to acclimatise to the car and see what happens, if he's so great he should be able to do it!

not just the same car, same tyres. Tyres are the most important thing on a car.

Yes, everything identical to the car that Senna drove, F1 has changed so much since 1994 when Senna was tragically killed!
