Over the years Alonso has struggled at overtaking! He doesn't position his car in the right place and ends up going off track. How many race starts has he gone to the outside ? Spain 07 always sticks in my memory!

I agree. He always always goes to the outside. Like Canada this year, he went to the outside of Buemi and then Hamilton took Alonso down the main straight on the inside.

Even in Germany this year, Alonso had one good chance to take Massa and tried to go around the outside! I don't get it.

Although his move on Massa in China heading into the pits was pretty slick. Made me laugh. :hehe:

No Alonso has made more mistakes than Hamilton, you forget them because they happened nearer the beginning of the season. Schumacher is not the complete driver this season, he's often been ragged and poor. Last race he was much better but Rosberg was looking as though he'd beat him if Webber hadnt taken him out.

Depends what you class as a "mistake".

Alonso has only made one mistake this year that has resulted in a DNF, Hamilton has made two that have resulted in DNFs.

Just to give you some facts rc: The spin in Oz he ended up 4th, the jump start in China 4th and the practice crash in Monaco 6th. Probably why no one is remembering them since Alonso drove some stunning recovery drives afterwards and scored good points.

They have had their fair and equal share of bad luck too. Hamilton in Spain, Hungary & Japan and then Alonso in Valencia, Silverstone & Malaysia.

Well Id say hamilton's made one that resulted in a DNF, and he was unlucky at that. And that Silverstone for Alonso was poor judgement as much as bad luck, so Id class that as a mistake.

Were closer to agreeing so I'll stop because we could probably go on for days :hehe::wink:

Far as i know this thread's about real greats: alonso and senna.
So, please lets leave the children and wannabe's for when a suitable discussion arises.
:)

If you wanna find flaws in fernando, dont look at inability to obvertake, cause he can do it. And very well.

This is the initial post that started leading this thread away from the original topic of discussion yet its par for the course for him  .
I think Hammer278 is faster than Senna on a wet track
- Hammer278.

Why is it that 99.99% of the threads turn into a Hamilton discussion??

No disrespect to the Hamilton fans/lambs but you know I'm right :wink: .

Well well as it's evolving into another Alonso VS Hamilton thread (LOL)...

I see them as equal on speed, equal on consistency (they've both made rash/stupid decisions this year though)...but Hamilton is simply better in racing. I can recall Hamilton overtaking Alonso, but not the other way around? And wet tracks do not count please. :D

PLEASE NO!!! WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER HAMILTON VS ALONSO THREAD!:banghead:

Can we please discuss Berger's comments without bringing other drivers into the discussion?

:hehe: It's hard to keep the best man out of a thread, even when it doesn't concern him.

Okay, Berger! Man he shouldn't be speaking he's not even a driver on the grid today! :D

Evidence to the contrary! Any driver can do it. Alonso's overtaking is nothing special, nor is his positioning of his car during his overtakes, or race starts. Thats his biggest flaw well aside from his megalomaniacism. :hehe:

Yes  you are right about that and that is why I wanted the name changed :hehe: . Kudos for being a good sport  .

Anywho did Berger really say those 'specific' words? I honestly believe sometimes that the idiot journo's follow such forums just to give themselves a 'woody' by causing conflict on what is normally a peaceful and respectful forum?
