Simple question that doesn't need much explaining.

If it was your money, who would you bet on the win the world championship this year with only 2 races left. Alonso, Webber, Hamilton, Vettel or Button.

Lewis has bad reputation for faltering when it gets tough.

Webber is an Unknown when it comes to this kind of pressure, but perhaps last race is a early crack showing?

so Alonso it is for me, as much as i'd hate that to be the case.

It is still too hard to guess but I think Alonso is on fire and he will be very hard to beat. He does of course have no new engines left so that would affect his performance perhaps.

Webber. I certainly hope so, anyway.

I think the laid-back attitude will help, he just needs to put in the performance in the race. He's in a better position, engine-wise and his car should be good enough for pole-position. If he can win in Brazil, then he should receive the team's backing for Abu Dhabi. He just needs to put in two solid performances to take the championship. It's essential that he keeps his cool, but he has the car and he has the determination. I don't think the mistake in Korea was a sign that pressure is getting to him, I think it was just a simple mistake due to the conditions. The fact that he was fairly calm about it afterwards is a good sign. How many other drivers might have kept their helmet on, visor-down in that situation?

I think it will be very close between him and Alonso, though. Alonso has the experience of being in this position, is very fast and has what seems to be a very good car right now. But he has his engine situation to think about. He's using his Monza engine next, if I remember rightly, and if that pops in Brazil then it opens the door for the other contenders... He and Ferrari will be hoping that Massa has his usual Interlagos form. It might prove vital.

Very interesting couple of races coming up. Incidentally, I wonder what people will feel if Alonso wins it by less than 7 points... ;)

I just have to quote this, my thoughts exactly. Really hope for Lewis to change his reputation in clutch situations, although this time it's different - it's him who's trying to catch up and doesen't have the "must win" pressure on him

Button - No chance

Lewis - Dont think so. Problem is, a great race would get him no more than 3rd. He needs 2 outstanding races without mistakes from EVERYONE else.

Vettel - Very difficult. In a better situation than Lewis because he can win at least 1 race. He needs 1 outstanding, 1 very good.

Alonso... the engine issue. He needs 2 very good races without being able to push the engines too much.
Webber... He needs 2 very good races, but in his car 2 strong races should be easier to get.

I'd say 40% Alonso
60% Webber to win it.

If Alonso wins it, no matter by what marging its going to be epic. I hope its less than 7 pts. That way both Massa AND Alonso end up being heroes :)

Would love Lewis to come through, but the Mclaren simply isn't fast enough.

Would equally love Webber to win his first championship. But Alonso arguably the best driver on the grid in a very competitive car. And he has the full support of the team. And he has the momentum

So if it's my money on the line, it's on Alonso.

It will be close but, I think Alonso will pull it off.
Massa is the deciding factor.
If he produces good in the last two races, Alonso is WDC.

Jenson - tiny chance

Lewis - Small chance

Alonso - he is on a roll that is hard to bet against, as long as his engine holds up

The Redbull drivers, hard to choose between, but they should of been streets ahead but they keep crumbling.

It doesn't happen all that often, but I'm going to agree with Gaz.

Lewis typically folds under pressure, though perhaps a bit less each year than the year prior...he seems to be gaining maturity. Alonso is on a roll, and his car is up to snuff.....but the engine issue is going to keep it interesting. I'm liking how this championship battle has a different look each race. It is entertaining...especially if you don't have a horse in the race that you particularly care about. Any of the realistic top three could win it and I'd be happy for them. I'm looking forward to Brazil.

As for McLaren having a slow car....I don't really see that being true. They've had good results this year, Massa is in the same car as Alonso and Hamilton had no difficulty holding him off last weekend. Without the mistakes made by the driver, Hamilton would be well and truly winning the championship. Its hard to fault the McLaren as a slow car with that being the case. That's racing and its easy to make a mistake when driving on the edge, but you can't fault the car.

I would have to give my tip for champion to Fernando Alonso, he has been the strongest overall driver since Germany and is on a roll right now, luck is going his way while Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel are on the back foot a little with the double DNF. Anyone could win, but I fancy Alonso to get the results he needs to claim the championship; then we'll wait for the inevitable furore if he wins by less than seven points...

The only thing for sure is that if it goes to Abu Dahbi, Alonso will be in the running.

If it is Alonso to win, I sincerely hope it is by less than 7 points. I don't know which I'd enjoy more, the Ferrari victory or watching the Anti-Ferrarista media & fans torturing themselves again and again over "Team Ferrari @ Germany". It's already sweet listening to the other teams justifying how it's ok for them to do it now

It's Alonso's championship to lose now in my opinion. Ferrari have the momentum going into the final few races. Alonso hasn't finished off the podium since silverstone, bar his dnf in belgium.

Webber I'm afraid, in my opinion doesn't have the pace to win this championship. Out of the top 5, he's had the fewest non-scoring races, and he's driving the fastest car on the grid. You have to ask why he isn't comfortably leading this championship. I just don't think he'll find the pace to win. But if he does, fair play, he'll be one deserving champion. But imagine this scenario. Brazil the order is, Vettel, Webber, Alonso. Would Red Bull ask Vettel to let Webber through? How would the fans react?

Vettel with a bit of luck I can see winning the championship. But he would need two races wins in my opinion, and Alonso to have some bad luck. Considering Alonso's consistency lately, that's a pretty damn hard task.

McLaren are outta of it now in my opinion. Even with some luck, I don't think they have the car to take advantage of it. In the last 3 races they've clearly been the 3rd fastest team.

Then again a crazy race in brazil could tighten things up and all off a sudden it'll go down to who has the fastest car in abu dhabi. But personally I think Alonso deserves it. He's been incredible in the last 7 races, (bar spa of course)

I'm not sure that Alonso "deserves" the WDC. After Ferrari's stunning start he was patently abysmal in the early part of the season and has benefitted greatly from the bad luck (and judgment) of others to be sitting at the top of table, but he has the momentum and is now driving magnificently. He's ridden his luck, found his form and he's the one to catch. Hold it together and the championship is his for the taking.
