If you watch the replay you can clearly see Webber took his hands of the wheel just before impact, which set his trajectory from then on. How can he steer the car without his hands on the wheel? When he puts his hands back on he is already in the middle of the track, so if you consider that then you will see why he was merely just trying to get to the grass without impact, so that he could properly turn his car around and limp back to the pits.

Not exactly the middle of the track:

The back end is basically in the middle of the track by the time he gets a grip on the wheel, even if he'd started turning the other way, by the time he'd reached opposite lock he'd have been in a similar position and the track and therefore he'd probably still have been hit! :)

This topic is easily the joke of the day. :hehe:

Some people in here are just silly. End of. Incidentally, Gerhard Berger thinks it was an intentional attempt to take out championship rivals, too.

Another ex-Formula 1 driver, Gerhard Berger, who drove for both Ferrari and McLaren, has accused Mark Webber of trying to take out his title rivals during the race in Korea.
In an interview with Austrian TV, Berger said: "He took out Rosberg, but it was the wrong one. I think in his mind he would have preferred Alonso or Hamilton." Asked to clarify whether he thinks Webber's move was deliberate, Berger added: "Yes, I think that's very clear."

Oh well. And here, I respected that guy.

i don't belive berger it, surely it would of been simple to just correct the skid and carry on ot a 1st place.

You'd have no time to think, well i'm spinning so rather than correct this spin-out i'll aim for Rosberg or Lewis

I have already said my piece and don't feel I need to add to it at this point; but on the users calling for the thread to be locked; why? it's a valid theory even if many of us don't agree with it. As long as it stays civil; us moderators will not lock this thread! If I locked every thread I disagreed with; this forum would be full of locked threads!

Actually I thought the same when he reacted this way to his crash, he didn't even try to steer his way beside the wall, didn't make any corrections

I have to admit, I thought the same thing when I saw it live, I actually thought to myself, why is he steering it back onto the track, maybe he is trying to get it around to see if he can limp back to the pits. I will need to see a replay, but from that picture, it appears he is fighting the steering to keep it from going on the track.

Mark wouldn't put his life on the line just to try to take out a Ferrari or McLaren I don't think.

The steering wheel's upside down in that pic and if you watch the replay you see he's got it with both hands. It was the impact with the wall that turned the wheels and steering wheel but Webber grabs it very quickly. He may have been trying to get back round on the off chance it was still drivable or have some other reason for holding the steering but I wouldn't count out him thinking if he was going out then he'd take one or more of his competitors with him.

Seems a few Hamilton fan boys have it in for Webber and as such because of that suggest he did it on purpose! Evidence clearly shows he was a passenger in the prang, so stfu!
#222122
If you look at the position he is holding the steering wheel in, he is actually steering the opposite direction to the way the front wheels are pointing. If the steering responded to the way he has the steering-wheel pointing in the frame it would keep the rear of the car heading back to the wall he hit.

This concept behind this thread is ludicrous. Webber was a passenger in this car from the moment of impact.
