Someone want to explain to me what an ECU is? Or just give me the full word so I can google it.

It's basically an electronic chip that allows control of certain engine parameters - fuel mixtures, rev limits, etc.

Electronic control unit. All (modern) cars have one.

Even HRT

Also, thanks for the replies.

Regardless of my opinion that I still think it was wrong to have a team build one for the whole series I believe that McLaren has done a fantastic job and to speculate a preference would be something I believe we have witnessed, there is none.

It is a total case of blasphemy, strictlty imo, that the governing body's aloud a F1 team/competitor to construct an ECU that all the teams MUST use. Take it for what you want but in all reality WE ALL KNOW that it's just not right.

Ferrari never made their own anyway so its just another supplier to them :D

Atleast the teams had a choice of ecu manufacturers right? No pun against McLaren themselves but in simple terms it could be viewed as 'insider trading' anywhere else in the corporate world, am I wrong or just dilussional, nevermind don't answer that :hehe: .
