If Mark wins both remaining races, then he wins the championship no matter what Fernando does.

If Lewis wins both remaining races, then Lewis can take the championship if Fernando scores a 3rd and a 4th.

If Sebastian wins both remaining races, then he can take the championship if Fernando scores two 4th places.

If Jenson wins both remaining races, then he can take the championship if Fernando scores an 8th and a 9th.

well you can cross out Jenson for all we know, everyone else have a shot, Lewis and Vettel a rather slim one but still, today showed that anything can happen. Fernando's chances are looking good

Alonso only has to win one race to take Hamilton, Vettel and Button out of contention, leaving only Webber. I wouldn't mind being in that position at this stage of the season.

Hamilton's still there though. He's pretty much in the same boat as before he came into this race, only a different guy up ahead, reduced points difference and reduced races to overhaul him.

I always expected McLaren to struggle here, don't ask me why. I do think they will do very well in Brazil, they've always gone very well there. Brazil is a must win for McLaren, any other position other than 1st for Lewis, I'll put all my money on Alonso to (gulp) take his 3rd this year. Man I might have to brace myself to start calling him Mr3times. :hehe:

Seems realistically only Webber and Alonso will be champion this year.

It's beginning to look that way, but I think Red Bull will still allow their drivers to race in Brazil, which may cause them some issues whereas Massa's usual advantage at Brazil could easily help Alonso...

haha What an insulting nickname...

I dont think Lewis can 'realistically' win both races. The car is not enough to beat the RB, although able to challenge Alonso depending on the conditions.

However, Alonso could get an engine blow of a swap penalty. So I think its still definitely possible for Webber, Vettel needs some luck because front row should be completely normal for RB, and Lewis needs great results AND luck.

Fernando's getting points by luck. He could not have caught the Red Bulls today. Luck is fair though. All the guys have got points by luck.

Interesting point about Massa's Brazil dominance. Assuming it happens this year, then that's one win that one of Fernando's competitors can't get. And given that only the first to second place gap has a really significant points difference, that could be very important. Even if Massa doesn't mover over for Fernando, just winning that race would be a real boost to his teammate.

Of course, as pointed out, an engine failure or other DNF could change things in a single race. But, recently at least Fernando has been about as consistent as anybody.

yes... he's also lost pts for poor luck.
And to me his luck has gotten somewhat balanced. Although magnified by RB's terrible luck though and some very great performances and improvement by Ferrari...

I think its the whole package. Red Bull have been VERY unlucky, but that comes as part of the package...
Mark spun today, but Alonso had it much worse in Spa. Vettel had an engine issue, so did Alonso in Malaysia.

In any case, whoever beats the Red Bull this yr needed luck. There's simply no way to beat that car with everything going smoothly. But you also have to help your luck, like Mclaren did in Turkey and Alonso in Hungary...

And his luckiest points score being Germany, if not for that his lead would only be 4 points right now. And with only 2 races left that kind of luck might be evened out at Redbull or McLaren by a team mate pulling aside

Lewis is still there Hammer but unless the car changes his only hope is for some DNFs like today.

Agreed, the just don't have the best car on the grid right now and it's clear Ferrari has beaten them in the updates.

So his only chance is if the leaders DNF or score low or not points in the remaining races. Hard to race knowing things aren't entirely in your control. But as today showed, anything and everything can happen... Fernando is riding a very long fortunous streak.

No luck there. Solid team work, that's all... :hehe:

BTW
Who's to say RB AND Mclaren won't do any little bit of teamwork in the remaining races?
They better not though. Because they keep saying they don't. So, i've got my eye on them little buggers :cyclops:

Im Sure at the last race it will happen at Redbull and McLaren if need be. Though they wont need an order over the radio to do it. It would be more like how Kimi did it for Massa in 08.
