I think the picture some people are presenting is very disingenuous. McLaren didn't lose the drivers' title by not choosing a number one driver, they lost it by making a mistake in leaving Hamilton out too long in China, his technical failure in Brazil, and Alonso losing the head in the middle of the season, making some silly mistakes. As history has shown, McLaren not favouring a particular driver has brought success to the team. It happened with Lauda and Prost and, later, Prost and Senna, to name but a few examples.

They also lost it by favoring a kid who ended up choking. Had they not given preferential fuel treatment to Hamilton, Alonso would have most likely won the title.

And before you say Hamilton did not choke. Yes he did there was no reason for him to be racing Alonso in the last race. None whatsoever.

They never gave Hamilton preferential treatment - the rest of what you say falls flat.

That is something only the team know's, not outsider's like us. After the whole debacle between RD and FA following 'Stepney Gate' it may very well be true.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Alonso given the priority fuel strategy to win the Monaco Grand Prix? Yes. Did McLaren not try to give Alonso the best chance of winning the Spanish Grand Prix? Yes. Therefore, it it totally disingenuous in the extreme to say McLaren did nothing for Alonso. After the whole team were severely punished for actions in which Alonso was one of the main players and after attempting to blackmail Dennis, he was still given the car and the support to win the championship. A lot of teams would have fired his sorry bottom. So don't come out with this "McLaren did nothing for Alonso" line because it's utter bull s***.

We all know you would not blame him RD but you do not hesitate to throw stone's at other team's, nameless, for what you can only assume is preferential treatment.

Blackmailer's are also jailed from "where I come from".

Nobody likes to see their drivers not win or the drivers they don't like win.

I didn't bother keeping the races I recorded if Schumacher or Webber didn't do well, because I found them boring.

That's like only eating half of your filet mignon because you got bored with the taste! Messing with you bro but if your trying to get a full season recorded and erase the race's you found boring that's like reading a book with a few chapter's missing?

:( I know. I am ashamed. I just can't sit through an F1 race with the same interest if my favourite drivers aren't doing well...

Perhaps I'm not a true F1 fan after all

Hehe, seriously though, a true fan of F1 would watch the race recording regardless of which drivers were in or out...

(ponders for a moment)

Am I really just a glory hunter?

(goes to sit on a rock and think about life and F1 and what it all means to him)

Hahahaha, sorry mate I'm killing myself laughing here...

You know one of the issue's I have is that we miss so much of the on-track drama that take's place because the camera's usually on focus only on what happening at the front of the pack. So when we do have one of those 'boring' battle's up front we miss out on some great racing!

If Ferrari had taken the same stance as Mclaren back in 1999 and given their drivers equal equipment and treatment Eddie Irvine might have won the championship, like someone said: Mclaren lost the drivers championship through a couple of mistakes and some technical glitches, not because they gave their drivers equal footing.

In my opinion, if it wasn't for Coughlan and a couple of silly spaniards Mclaren would have both titles this year, as it happens they have neither and if Mad Max has his way they won't have either next year either.
