How? People aren't exactly questioning Ross's abilities.

Ross is the biggest reason Schumacher is on board, they have history but that's not the reason. You don't think Mercedes has questioned Ross as to the performance of this year's car? Mercedes is in F1 to win, not to race for 4th on the WCC. I would love to see them competing for the championship next year, but the pressure on both MS and Ross is going to be immense.

Exactly, this year is a failure for Ross in two big ways. He got it wrong with bringing Schumacher back and he also had Mercedes believe they were in for a 2010 season like what he had in 2009.

If I remember correctly he was saying at the beginning of 2010 that the figures coming from the wind tunnel were excellent and well exceeding what his 2009 car was producing.

Implying that this season was going to be great. It's been anything but.

It seems like Ross Brawn is combining 2 succesful racing team and should be putting up more numbers this year.

I would not call this year a failure for either Micheal or Ross

Hopefully next year will be better for both of them, the more competition the better the sport will be to watch.

I don't think the fans, Ross or Michael would call it a failure either, they're definitely1ndig not happy, but no one would call it a failure with the exception of perhaps Mercedes... you know they were expecting much better than they got.

I simply call it racing and how the tides have turned and will continue to turn. It is/was great for the sport as a whole that he returned and most of us Schumacher fans are disappointed with his results yet still hope for the results he is capable of but time will tell. Either way this fan is not disappointed at all and he has nothing to prove to me.

"The car worked great this time," Schumacher told German television channel RTL. "Unfortunately, I cannot say it has been that way at all the races.

"There have often been problems, especially on my car, in terms of the consistency, that were not always noticed from the outside. You only saw that I was slower. Both cars have not always been the same."

Mercedes' Norbert Haug did not disagree with Schumacher's claims.

"I cannot disagree with Michael. As far as the car is concerned, he is right," Haug told Bild newspaper.

Schumacher is an expert at Suzuka, he hasn't turned things around! It is a once off performance from him.

I'm so sure of this I'll do a bud like bet. If Schumacher can get into Q3 in Korea and match Rosberg's race pace I'll decorate my avatar & sig with McLaren stuff for a week.

Everyone hates a winner and it is really really a sad state of affairs .

He deserves to come back with a car next year that Mercedes built to suit him.

That being said, you can't take anything away from Rosberg's performance this year, he's faced the pressure and responded with gallantry and solid results.

Rosberg has performed exponentially this season and I hope it continues with whomever he races for.

I can't help but wonder how much these skinny front tyres have affected him - just look at Massa who has admitted that they aren't helping his cause either (unless has vast underperformance is due to the accident, which i kind of doubt). Thing is, those tyres will still be the same width next season, and i can't see Pirelli coming up with some miracle compound that enables the fronts to generate excess relative grip, so Schumacher is basically relying totally on the car characteristics working in his favour... which is quite a big thing to be relying on with the lack of testing.

I'm of the opinion that if your a good driver then you can adapt your driving style to get the most out of the car.

Well I think Schumacher had a great Japanese gp with arguably his best drive (not finish) of the season. I think one way to look at it is that he was the first racer after the 5 championship contenders the Mercedes was placed the top of the teams who are not contending for the title. Obviously you could say as well that had Kubica and Rosberg not of crashed out which was rotten luck then he would of been 8th, I still think he drove a superb race.

Yes, Ross and Michael have immense pressure to perform next season and we will see if they can match their expectations. Mind you, if you think to last year, the brawn car only won 2 races in the second half of the season and was pretty much the 2nd maybe 3rd fastest car by the end.
