If it really did rain too much for Q tomorrow, how about they take the grid positions from the finishing order in the last race. Nando P1, Lewis 5th last, and after the penalty, last.

You're

You can spank me if you feel I deserve it :whip:

Judging from your screen name, you might like it far too much - sicko! :whip::hehe:

Indeed, and for anyone wanting to know the exact schedule now i just found this while scouring the F1 section of the BBC site:

Sunday 10 October
Qualifying: 0150-0300, BBC One/online and BBC Radio 5 live sport extra/online
Race: 0600-0915, BBC One/online and BBC Radio 5 live/online
Race re-run: 1400-1600, BBC One

Gonna be a long night, i'm well up for this. Might have to go to bed soon though :hehe:

I can't decide whether or not to watch it. Common sense tells me I should rest and let my body heal, but it's Suzuka! :hehe:

Funny that, cause common sense is telling me to stay up all night and sleep some other time! :P

I was just thinking - pretty dangerous I admit - but, as Lewis had a DNF in Singapore, he was entitled to change at least his gearbox without penalty. I checked the picture and video of his crash on Friday and the rear of the car is fine. It would be a monumental mistaken team call to not have changed his gearbox after taking the shunt he did mid/rear on the car in Singapore. If the problem in the gearbox was there before they even arrived in Susuka. For the sake of the cost of a gearbox it seems a no-brainer they should have changed it anyway.

they needed to fly in a new rear wing for him so its possible he caused some rear end damage to the box.

All the more reason to change the gearbox! Seems a no-brainer to me and, that team decision may have cost Lewis 5 grid places.

I meant they flew in rear wing parts from his shunt on FP1.

I thought that was the new rear wing they developed mate? Either way, it just seems so silly not to change it, I mean its a free change and its a simple change. I mean Ferrari changed Felipe's engine and gearbox when he had his accident in Singapore, just so he'd have a fresh one for the race, why wouldn't McLaren do same for Lewis's gearbox?

Yeah which he broke during the shunt and needed to fly out a replacement, They didnt go taking Jensons atleast :hehe: He had to use the Singapore rear wing in the little running he did in FP2. Im sure the gearbox problems would have occurred during his shunt on Friday. But who knows they might have given him a brand new box for Japan after Singapore but old or new his prang wouldnt have helped either way.

They probably did change his gearbox, I'd say the crash has done the damage that has caused his gearbox problems.

If you read the article, they said it was the gearbox from Spa, which means it was the one that took the shunt from Mark. That's my point, can't believe they didn't just replace it. Even not knowing that he was going to crash on Friday (I'm biting my lip now and resisting all temptation to say something here) they should have thought about giving him a "free" fresh gearbox for Susuka instead of a 4 race old one. As I said a no-brainer.

No need to bite your tongue, its not like he has crashed his car so bad that he will miss qualifying... Now that would really suck!

I hadn't read the article, but even still im sure they would have checked it all out before making the decision whether to change it or keep it. Or are you saying you know more than the professionals on an F1 team? :hehe: I still think if it were brand new or 4 races old it still would have happened because of his Fridag prang.

Despite the lack of qualifying yesterday, I thought there were some funny moments in the BBC coverage; my favourite was when Mike Gascoigne said when referring to the boat racing down the pit lane; "we might as well give it a go; it's the only thing we can win this year"

It looks bad for the race as according to weather.com; it will consistently rain all day today in Suzuka and scattered thunderstorms will be making an appearance around race start time, I wonder if the race will go ahead if conditions remain the same, I've never heard of a race being cancelled because of weather before, maybe this'll be the first!
