I don't know about you, but I can look at each team and despite my own personal bias, pick out which driver has that certain little extra. A good example is Red Bull. I love Webbah, can't stand Vettel, but recognise that even though Webs is ahead of Vet in the standings...Vet is the more talented driver.

In that vein, pick your own picks. Some are obvious...Kubica over Petrov say. But who else do you think is the more talented teamate?

My theory is that good racing drivers use their mind. Great racing drivers, legends, they use their instinct, without having to think.

How do you define 'talent'?

That's kinda what I'm asking you to decide. You either have it or you don't. Who do you think has it?

Every driver on the grid. Yes, even Yamamoto.

To be a bit clearer, there are many different types of talent spread throughout the Formula One grid at present. Some drivers might be more talented in one area, others in another.

Vettel has better raw talent than Webber? Time will tell with Vettel. Vettel has gained a drive with a top team early in his F1 racing. Webber has survived almost ten years of getting the better of his teammate in the same car. Early on, Webber gained points in Melbourne in a back of the grid car. Webber put a midfield car on the front row of the grid, ie Jaguar. Webber played a major part of developing Red Bull into a front runnng car/team. If that's not raw talent I don't know what is.

Raw talent that leaps a driver forward = Vettel.

You need more than those 2 things to succeed in F1. Apart from the basic abilities all F1 guys already have, there is the following which may vary from driver to driver:

1. Talent
2. Determination and hard work
3. Fitness
4. A great team/car
5. Ability to adapt (experience and determination helps here)
6. Mental soundness, to analyse and deal with the situations and "stuff" that happens in a race weekend (experience and the team helps here also)

Some drivers have more of one, a bit of the other... if this thread is referring to "talent" vs "everything else", then i think everything else is more important.

Wanna have some fun? How about rating the top drivers in a scale 1-5 on the above points....

Don't forget car management, too. I always thought Mansell could have been even more successful if he wasn't so hard on his car.
