Possibly those 2 tenths could also be put down to driving style? I think if Massa does not have the perfect setup he will always be down 2 tenths. Alonso like Schumacher could always find those extra 2 tenths out of shear determination in a subpar car but more so at being willing to push the car over/exceed it's limits while still maintaining control and feel, just my opinion but it sounds right. :)

Giving Schumacher those extra couple of tenths that he can find from a sub par car through sheer determination, then this year's car REALLY doesn't suit him.

You seem to have missed the point. I didnt say he was faster, or even as fast, I said he was 2 tenths off. So why is Montezemelo bitchin at him? If he goes 2 tenths faster he will be on golden boys pace and golden boy will crack, thats not what they want. So Montezemelo should count his luckies instead of griping at Massa. (And Why are you bringing Hamilton and Heiki into a thread about massa...AGEN!)

I think Luca is simply stating what they expect of Massa.
But yes, Massa has not been as fast as Alonso. Not consistently at least. He's had a couple good races, but you cant really say he's in a good shape. In fact, i bet even Massa knows he's not as fast as he can be.

No, Im sure he's aware he's a couple of tenths off. If the car and tyres were more to his style he'd be there. But despite that what does Luca expect? The extra 2 tenths to bring him onto Alonsos pace? He wants war?Or has alonso and his gang got that sewn up? Look back to my quote about his achievemnets in the last four races that Luca's bitchin about, they arent bad.

As Sefano once mentioned: "its the game (referring to comments made in the media", I agree with you that Massa hasn't shown signs of being knocked back or giving up after Germany (which I thought he would), but Luca is simply trying to urge him on and make sure he doesn't give up, if it'll motivate Massa to work harder to win public praise from Luca or just piss him off I don't know, Luca's quite fond of this loud abrasive demand what you want publicly style (in contrast to Stefano I've noticed), and I think it works, but I don't know whether it really will have a positive effect on Massa or not.

Possibly Massa tried hard a couple of races after Germany to prove he's able to keep up with Alonso. Personally I think Massa could've done better in Spa, and was a bit unlucky to not take the lead at the start in Monza (he was clearly the fastest after Jenson and Alonso moved across, just had to get out of the throttle because the track was so narrow there was no space, he perhaps should've out qualified Jenson. But later on, maybe Massa will lose interest in this years championship as he isn't in it.

And here come Dimontezemolo's speech into play. They expect Massa to shave pts from rivals, and race as a #1 driver. regardless the conditions.

One can see his comments in 2 ways. Either publicly ripping Massa off, or giving him confidence and a clear objective (pointing out what the team aka the employer actually expects from their drivers). And as far as i know, Massa has his contract... so there is no need for Ferrari to publicly dismiss Massa. So more likely, they are making sure everyone (incl. Massa) knows what's the job at hand.

Overheard in the pitlane today: Alonso and Massa discussing how Massa will hit the wall near where Hamilton did during practice but park his car on track bringing out a safety car. Alonso pitted on the first lap and now finds himself in 1st behind the SC. Post race: Alonso denies "knowing" anything of the "plan" :lurker:

Talk in the paddock today is Massa and Smedley are not happy at Ferrari and want out!

Tell us more pleeze?

I just love it when media quote "the talk" or "it was said"
It is called the silly season. Probably quoting the "guy on the gate with the half empty vodka bottle" or, some similarly reliable F1 source like Sportbild

The talk in my bathroom is that I'm the worlds biggest chick magnet :hehe:

 :drink:

I hope you're driving while you're doing that

Why do you say that?

Yeah I mean Massa has no reason to be unhappy with his place at Ferrari does he

I will chance the guess that he is the only one that can answer that truthfully.
