Ferrari lost a lot of important people at the end of last season. The '07 car would have been pretty much complete by then. The '08 car will be more affected by those losses of key personnel than the '07 car was. If any team is going to drop down the order it is, more than likely, going to be Ferrari.

Good point. However, they'll have the prime pit position which might be of help a bit.
Not if they've built and '07 Honda

besides i am pretty sure the pitlane order for the number 1 constructor having the 1st garage as you enter the pits is only in the european races as in Australia for certain the order is reversed.

heres a pic i took at the 06 GP

as you can see McLaren is on the left to Ferrari, Renault was the garage next to McLaren on the left!

05 order was 1.Renault 2. McLaren 3. Ferrar etc etc

im pretty sure Japan does it this way aswell, i guess on the basis that the number 1 garage gets to cut off people and get out ahead!

Indeed, but having read Mosley's comments this morning (see other thread) it seems McLaren are presumed guilty and are more likely to be punished.

If Mclaren just build the best car for next year then the size of the pit garage won't make a lot of difference. If other teams short fill because they can see the number 20 or 21 car coming up the pit lane then surely they will need to put extra fuel in on the next stop, so although they may gain track position the advantage is minimal I think. But the way things are going Mad Max will have Lewis and his team mate using three tyres and probably starting the season with minus 50 points!

i cant believe your even answering what HIS basis of info is! even if McLaren have a form slump next year theres no way they will be figthing with Force India and Torro Rosso! Unless ofcourse Force India and STR are figthing for the titles... stranger things have happened right ;)

And the topic is the Garage positioning and if it will have any affect on McLaren, not who they will be fighting with, or am i missing something myself as to why Force India and STR have been brought up if bringing up Ferrari is off topic???

Sorry Ron your right and I am once again wrong.

Short filling and being out in front means that you dictate the pace -

I guess you're right; all I’m saying is if Mclaren do a good enough job this winter then they can overcome these problems. Who knows this might be all immaterial if Renault and Honda manage to build a couple of pocket rockets!?!
