Wondering if anyone can give me some insight as to the relevance of Pit Lane garage positioning and the impact it could have on McLaren for next season.
Seems to be a lot of hype around it although i cant seem to find any information on how it affects teams.
Are the garages bigger the higher up you get?
Are you allowed more gear, etc, etc.
Any info would be helpfull.

Firstly, welcome to the forum.

To answer your questions, McLaren will get a smaller pit garage, meaning they can bring less equipment to the Grand Prix. It will also mean smaller VIP facilities for their sponsors.

Also - if both McLaren and Ferrari pit at the same time - Ferrari will see the McLaren coming up the pit lane after their pit stop and short fill their car in order to get out in front.

That could be quite interesting to watch, perhaps McLaren may try and play mind games with the Ferrari strategists.

That depends, we don't know whether McLaren will actually be racing against Ferrari next season.

You might be correct with this, they might be racing against Spyker, uh Force India, STR, and Super Best Friends

Geez, this was in direct response to Cilit's suggestion that we don't know whether McLaren would be competing against Ferrari and I took it from there in a humorous and maybe a bit unexpected direction - but it's not too far fetched considering the inconsistency in McLaren's performance, considering they'll probably lose a good driver and considering they'll be in the aforementioned teams' neighborhood in the paddock. Lighten up bud!

I would think her basis would be based on historical info but she will have to answer that question. Why not throw in Ferrari then? Because the topic is about how it will effect McLaren and not Ferrari unless I missed something?

i cant believe your even answering what HIS basis of info is! even if McLaren have a form slump next year theres no way they will be figthing with Force India and Torro Rosso! Unless ofcourse Force India and STR are figthing for the titles... stranger things have happened right ;)

And the topic is the Garage positioning and if it will have any affect on McLaren, not who they will be fighting with, or am i missing something myself as to why Force India and STR have been brought up if bringing up Ferrari is off topic???

Ferrari lost a lot of important people at the end of last season. The '07 car would have been pretty much complete by then. The '08 car will be more affected by those losses of key personnel than the '07 car was. If any team is going to drop down the order it is, more than likely, going to be Ferrari.

Good point. However, they'll have the prime pit position which might be of help a bit.
