Nothing particularly exciting about Alonso's win, pole to flag in one of the fastest cars.
Great driving, tho. Grand Chelem and holding off Seb at the end.
Alonso is by far my least fav driver out of the big 5 (my motto for the remaining 4 races is Anyone But Alonso), but hats off to him today. Very clean. Didn't erase 2 years ago, but it sure showed his skills/mental fortitude.
Yes I have to agree with that.
Hmmm... at some points the Red Bull was the fastest car. And Alonso was kind to his tires, without lock-ups or anything (unlike Button at monza), which allowed Ferrari yet again to choose their own race strategy.
In Q, the Red Bull was the fastest car, but the drivers kinda choked and/or couldnt get perfect laps.
Alonso had trouble in Q2 and turned it around by remaining calm, and getting that life-line lap in despite the issue.
He then went right behind Lewis on his Q3 run, did a little bit of showing off on their out lap, just to put some pressure on Lewis. On that same lap in Q3... boom! unbeaten pole. That was a masterful Q. Which set the grounds for a solid race, finishing in front of a car that was at times faster and always challenging... i was nail-biting right til the last turn, and even on the final straight there was a bit of a hold-breath instant....
Alonso managed his car and his race pretty well, Ferrari got the pit stop, the strategy and everything despite lots of pressure and the traffic. Solid drive there.
I think it was a great weekend by Alonso. We dont know how Massa would have fared, but he didnt really challenge the RBs in practice, so perhaps he could have gotten a podium or P4... but the win was a very very good race.
Kubica was amazing. He made some beautiful clean moves. That guy is good.
The incident with Webber and Hamilton was pretty weird... Hamilton got by becaus eof the backmarkers, and Webber did the same mistake Lewis made in Monza...... except with opposing results. Must have been really tough on Lewis. Too bad Webber didnt get a penalty though! a couple lost positions for Webber would meant double cash for Alonso...
Alguersuari was not really mentioned... but he managed a very good race despite the little set back he had.
I think from looking at the DNF list you can tell it was a VERY difficult race.

Came out fighting indeed.
