Villeneuve still thinks he's a topline f1 driver despite never being very good and being 40 next year. He had his team Villeneuve/Durango rejected for a 13th team for next year and is now looking to buy Torro Rosso. Torro Rosso has been reduced to about 30mil Euros but has a stipulation that it must remain at its base in Faenza.

would make sense out of the 3 teams possible up for sale for Jaques as he has an italian partner. Havent toro rosso been up for sale for a few years now? suprised no one has taken interest till now.

Forza Minardi!!

Lets face it Villeneuve will take any seat in F1, I am sure Bernies motorhome has a dunny he is not using, that is about the only seat JV is worth.

Really? You're surprised nobody wanted to buy an F1 team with no chassis design department?

Since 2008 Concorde, customer cars were banned from the start of 2010. So the STR5 (including the chassis) raced by Torro Rosso this year was designed by the Torro Rosso team.

Which invalidates my point...how?

I was pointing out that the chassis they are using this year was produced by them.

I never said it wasn't. I said (paraphrasing) that it was not surprising nobody wanted a team which wasn't designing its own chassis. There is (apparently) someone interested in it now - and in what is unlikely to be a coincidence, they do now design their chassis.

On a positive note I can appreciate JV's persistance yet I'm not giddy with excitement about his quest.

I don't mind the idea of Villeneuve coming back. He's a much nicer guy now from what I've seen of him

It's all cloak and dagger  .

RC; how can you say that Villeneuve has never been very good; he claimed the 1997 world drivers title; it seems like an odd statement to say a former world champion has never been very good! And frankly after leaving Williams for BAR in '99; he never had a podium challenging car! As for his current ability to drive in F1; who knows? he hasn't been in a race seat since mid 2006. I wouldn't mind have JV back in F1; Juan Pablo Montoya annoyed me much more than JV ever did; Villeneuve had the talent but can he do it with the current F1 standards; much like Michael Schumacher is struggling!
